It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?
Please bring it back on any channel it was good and refreshing it will be a loss for nbc
I was so upset to find out that Taxi Brooklyn was not renewed.
What is wrong with NBC ??? A second season often makes a big difference in ratings.
Now, no happy ending (no ending at all ) I am very sad about this one.
can’t believe they cancelled this show they I won’t know what happen when the ferry blew up:(
I don’t understand their decision-making… This was a fresh, interesting show. So was Almost Human… They don’t know a good show when they see it.
That was a good show they cancell all the Time the good show
Any time they put on a show thar requires intelligence they cancel it-NBC will lose all their shows
We will never know what happens.
God this show was AWFUL, I cant believe ppl are upset it wont be back
My kids tease me that if I like something it is the kiss of death. I guess NBC has proven that premise. I really liked Taxi Brooklyn. It had such an interesting story line and the characters were great. I totally agree with the comment above. So sad. Why bother watching. They just put on some dumb “reality show” in place of entertaining shows. 😛
NBC (nothing but crap)
I am over network tv. I don’t even bother watching most new shows because most will just be cancelled before episode 5. What happened to going all in on a show and giving the viewer time to find it and time for the show to prove itself? If you were going off of initial ratings many of your most successful shows would have been canceled 10 years ago when they first aired! The sad thing about this is that by viewers choosing to skip new shows – knowing that chances are the show won’t make it through mid season –… Read more »
So disappointed that this show was cancelled. Was REALLY looking forward to Seasons 2. This was an awesome show!!
My wife & I really enjoyed show! Am very disapointed that it is not getting a second season!
Of course they cancelled it! They’re looking for yet another crappy, juvenile, sleazy show to replace it with. Why bother getting vested in ANY program on NBC? Beginning w/the liberal Today show, NBC has almost nothing worth watching besides … hmph… can’t think of ANYTHING at the moment… I watched Days of our Lives since it started 50 yrs ago. And now they can call it the Gays of our lives since most of the stories revolve around the 3 guys. I don’t buy ANY of the products paying for the commercials any longer. And it has nothing to do… Read more »
I really enjoyed this show last summer and I was very much looking forward to seeing season two this summer: THAT’S WHY I KNEW NBC WOULD CANCEL IT! Sadistic bunch of heath….oh never mind, they would probably consider that a compliment of their ‘artistic’ taste. No wait, THAT has nothing to do with it; it’s all about the supposed ratings (a system so broken by now I don’t know WHY ANY network even bothers with it any longer). Am I bitter? No. I passed bitter with American television along time ago. I’m just numb to all emotional attachment to a… Read more »
