It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?
Please bring it back!
You are spot on Laura, I as well am in my 50s and I love that show, please NBC bring back taxi Brooklyn. Everyone who watches TV is not in their 20s and watching reality TV. Please rethink this decision.
There’s nothing worse about TV than when networks make the season finale a huge cliffhanger when they have no idea about the fate of the show. Especially when it’s the first season and hasn’t managed to gain a solid, loyal audience yet. I really enjoyed Taxi: Brooklyn and looked forward to it each week. The least NBC could have done was tie the story up somewhat in case of cancellation. I really hope another channel picks it up. So unfair.
I Loved The Drama The Actors Are Great Some Other Channel Pick Taxi Brooklyn Up.
Come on! Other channels, if you see us how much we like this show, please bring it back! I love Detective Sullivan! I love short hair woman always! Thanks.

Do the right thing, NBC. Come on!
This is a Great Show! Come on! I was waiting for Summer so we can
continue the love affair with these great characters and their individual
stories!! Don’t you know great writing when you see it? Come on NBC!!!
Bring Taxi Brooklyn back. I love this show! I have been waiting for it to come back on. It seemed like a long time, and after checking online, I see it’s been cancelled. What do stations always think their demographics are the 18 to 24 year olds. Hello? Other age groups exist! I’m in my 50s, yet no-one cares what I think because of my age? I shop, have a place to maintain, we eat out, and so on. What about expanding or changing your target audience? Ridiculous that the youth are your only demographic!
