As expected, ABC has cancelled The Gates after one season on the air. The ratings certainly didn’t dictate a second season and a couple weeks ago, series star Frank Grillo said that he’d heard unofficially that the show wouldn’t be back.
Though even actress Lindsay Lohan wanted to see it return, it’s now been confirmed that The Gates has indeed been cancelled. Some of the people connected with the show have tweeted about the series’ passing.
From the show’s Twitter feed comes, “We would like to thank our followers for sticking with us through this great journey.”
Gates creator Richard Hatem wrote simply, “Thanks to everyone who loved it. DVD set to be released…someday?”
Consulting producer and writer Robert Hewitt Wolfe tweeted, “Thank you to #TheGates fans, crew & cast for a great run. It was a blast. Seriously some of the best fans ever.” He later posted, “4 sale, lux devlpmnt/incrprtd town w/ upscale owners, prvt police/fire, exclnt school, occasional mysterious death”
Colton L Haynes wrote, “Was a great/fun experience and thk u all for coming along for the ride!. He followed that up with, “THE GATES cast and crew: thk u all for the good times! Learned alot and had a great summer with u all! Cheers to the future!” and posted this photo with #ripBrettCreski. Wolfe responded, “Sob… Too young!”
James Preston looks forward to the future, tweeting, “No worries gates fans follow us on to our new exciting roles!” Travis Caldwell echoed that sentiment, saying, “its all good more to come from all of us !!!”
Justin Miles wrote, “We gave em a hell of a run, though…” Janina Gavankar feels similarly, saying, “Sad. But we’re incredibly proud of what we made.”
Young McKaley Miller tweeted, “thank you guys for all the support!! seriously, y’all are awesome!! #TheGates is officially over, but it was such a great experience!! TY :)”
Andrea Powell wrote, “Thanks for all the love, fans of #TheGates. We’ll miss you! :-*”
Rachel Dipillo wrote, “We had a fun ride on The Gates. Love everyone I worked with and can’t wait to see what you do next! #RIPLEXIEWADE”
Grillo tweeted, “Thanks to all of you for supporting us. It made the whole thing worth it. Lots more fun stuff coming.” Grillo also said that he’d share what would have happened in the second season. After son Charlie is saved, Nick and his family would have stayed in the Gates community. The Radcliffs decide to take a break from one another. Leigh becomes the head of the police and Nick takes over the Gates board and oversees the community.

Abc finally gets it right with “The Gates” and the cancel it. You never knew what was going to happen next, unlike other shows on other networks that are going off a set of books. I really hope that some one will pick the show up and keep it going. I believe it would give them a run for their money.

I watched The Gates on Netflix and imidiately fell in love with it. Once I found out that there was not a second season it was heartbreaking. I think alot of fans agree that there should be a second season of the gates.
This was an excellent show for once something other than a CSI, game show (How to complete a task for a million), survival show and the sitcoms are not funny. Basic TV channels do not have any shows similar to The Gates. This recession does not allow such expenses as cable , however if you want to see something with a combination of action, mystery, romance you have to obtain cable. What a pity!
The diversity of the show & the symbionic relationships within the show is what made me interested in the plot & characters. Very curious, as to what the show could have become. Sad. Really enjoyed it. Best of luck.
I really loved The Gates! I’m surprized it didn’t get enough views, I thought It would be just as popular,if not more than, The Vampire Diares. I’m really sad to see the show being dis-continued.

This show wasn’t your typical vampire/wolf show! It had great potential especially with the finale. I hate to see this show go, I regret watching the first season on netflix without knowing there wasn’t going to be a second made. very disappointed in ABC !!!!
the show was wonderful I like stuff like this it shouldn’t have been canceled not I didn’t know about the show until it came on Netflix. I work all of the time and every show I seem to like gets canceled for dumb shows like American idol it is the worst show to ever happen to television. The Gates needs to put back on.
I swear A(lready) B(een) C(ancelled) ditches shows before they even air them. So sad. Hopefully, SyFy will buy it and continue it….but then again recently SyFy has decided to sell out too by airing WWE s**t as opposed to actual science fiction. Let’s not forget A&E…because we all know repo men and the Dog have so much to do with Arts & Entertainment.
I was just looking up when to expect the next season to start. Ive been waiting and sooo sad to see it has ended. This was the only one of two network shows I watch anymore. Supernatural is all that is left and Im sure it is on its last leg! Wonder if I can subscribe only to the HBO and Showtimes network TV is proving to be lame!!
I don’t watch very many TV shows because not a lot of what’s playing these days appeals to me (it either has too much sex, is too political, is reality TV, etc.), but this show DID! I found it on Netflix so I thought I’d give it a shot – totally got sucked in and couldn’t get enough!! I just finished it yesterday and got online to look and see when the 2nd season started only to find out it was canceled!! I just can’t believe it!!! I love The Gates, Its got all my favorite things rolled into one show. Vampires, the supernatural and detective work. The gates should most def. come back on, its an awesome show.
I fell in love with this show after one episode. It definitely should not have been cancelled. It was an awesome story and the actors were amazing. It’s a shame it was cancelled. I think it should start up again now that more people know about it. I can only keep wishing though.
I am so very upset that The Gates was cancelled. I really think that if the original directors and producers do not pick it up, someone should. It was an amazing show and so many people loved it and I believe that it should keep going. ABC left us hanging with no idea what to expect next!
