As expected A&E has cancelled The Glades after four seasons on the air. There won’t be a fifth season or wedding for Jim (Matt Passmore) and Callie (Kiele Sanchez).
The dramedy began in July 2010 and it became their first scripted series to last more than a season. The cancellation comes days after The Glades’ fourth season finale attracted 3.41 million viewers. This was the show’s most-watched episode since the series premiere which drew 3.55 million.
Unfortunately, the fourth season as a whole was down by 14% year-to-year and The Glades was the cable channel’s lowest-rated scripted series. It didn’t help that the show was also produced by Fox, an outside studio, so A&E didn’t have a financial stake in the show’s future.
Of course, the real losers are the fans. The fourth season ended on a cliffhanger with Jim being shot in the chest by an unknown assailant. Hopefully the producers will find a way to give faithful viewers an idea of what might have happened in season five.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that The Glades has been cancelled? How would you have resolved the cliffhanger? Should Jim and Callie be together?
this is ******** dude, I liked this show.
No way to treat the faithful fans of the series. How can anyone be expected to get behind a new series when there is so little regard for the fans? Would appreciate a proper ending.
Oh man! Just finished watching Season 4 on Netflix over the last week or so. Hanging off the cliff, I wanted to know when Season 5 might be available to climb back to safety. I am totally bummed. At least give us a two-hour closing show to tie up the loose ends and give us “happily ever after ending”. Fox and/or A&E, don’t do this too your audience.
What the? That isn’t right
Come on yall need to put season 5 on so we can see what happens
So sorry to hear that Season 4 was the last Season at least there should of been a wedding, we the viewers are left hanging awful feeling. Love all the cast members.
Please rethink this at least give us Season 5.
We are so upset right now! How could they do that to fans! We recently fell in love with this show! Great fun! Suspense and comedy wrapped up in one show is not something we’ve seen done well since Chuck. Please bring back Glades!
Hi!
I just went on to see if there was a 5th season of Glades, and to find out There Wasn’t I was Very Disappointed. I think you Should have let him get married and find the bad guy before you ended the season. I Am Sorry but ending the season where you did was So Wrong, We the viewers have a right to know what happens to them so Please bring it back for another season!!!!!!!!!
Too bad. We loved this show.
OMG seriously!!! I loved that show!!! I am so mad because I hate cliff hangers. WHY …… WHY this is terrible.
Cant believe you have cancelled this series , one of the best on tv. every time you start to enjoy a show someone cancels it (disgusting you don’t think of your viewers). We don’t even find out who shot JIM or why.
Can’t believe this show was canceled. . . the producers really need to re-think this and do one final season. It was a real let down to the faithful viewers of this series.
yes jim and callie should be together and there should be a 5th season plz continue the show my family loves this show and we want to c what happens. plz dont cancel the glades and make a 5th season. and i agree with Michaela Atkin.
I can’t believe they cancelled on such a cliffhanger!! Ack. So, I was thinking. When Jim got the call that Ray’s credit card had been used recently in Seattle, I think it was – the truth would be that Ray had given his credit card to someone to use while he traveled across country to murder Jim. OR the U.S. Marshall is the one who actually shoots him because what’s happening to Ray – his wife marrying someone else, kid having a new Dad, actually happened to him as a U.S. Marshall and he didn’t want to see Ray torn… Read more »
Maybe end on a 90 minuet tie in with all questions being answered. similar to how the British do things. Allowing actors to develop charters and also do other work. Tieing actors to long running shows for years bores us and I am sure bores the actors also.
Sometimes we never see actors again because they are so type cast we just can’t see them as any other charter. Maybe a new format needs to be tried.
