As expected A&E has cancelled The Glades after four seasons on the air. There won’t be a fifth season or wedding for Jim (Matt Passmore) and Callie (Kiele Sanchez).
The dramedy began in July 2010 and it became their first scripted series to last more than a season. The cancellation comes days after The Glades’ fourth season finale attracted 3.41 million viewers. This was the show’s most-watched episode since the series premiere which drew 3.55 million.
Unfortunately, the fourth season as a whole was down by 14% year-to-year and The Glades was the cable channel’s lowest-rated scripted series. It didn’t help that the show was also produced by Fox, an outside studio, so A&E didn’t have a financial stake in the show’s future.
Of course, the real losers are the fans. The fourth season ended on a cliffhanger with Jim being shot in the chest by an unknown assailant. Hopefully the producers will find a way to give faithful viewers an idea of what might have happened in season five.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that The Glades has been cancelled? How would you have resolved the cliffhanger? Should Jim and Callie be together?
Pretty much ruined this couples evening with the way you ended The Glades Jim and Kelli’s wedding……..yes, we make our own ending so you don’t have to take the guff but hardly watch shows so we can decide their ending!!!!!! Not enough money in it huh?
Are you freaking kidding me? No show has ever ended on this kind of cliffhanger. It was a great show and should have at least concluded with one last show giving us fans an ending.
So sad this series was canceled. Loved it!o
I too think they since it was shown on netflix for four seasons, they should at least give us an ending and one more two hr movie, or even an hr so we could see her reaction to her new house and have a happy ending instead of the horrible one we witnessed.
I agree with the other viewers you don’t end on a cliff hanger wrap it up. A&E you suck. This is just as bad as that Syfy show that ended with everyone on earth dying. Then they cancelled the show. Didn’t really watch much A&E anyway won’t try to now.
Darn it….I sure do like this show.
What a sad and frustrating ending. I have been looking every where for the continued story. It is inconsiderate. Not sure I will watch much more on A&E. You worry about ratings and now you really have lost a viewer. Money is all you care about.
Bring the series back. It is 2017 and we still miss the series
They should’ve had a fifth season, at least a short one. The fans deserved it.
It was a good show, not over the edge on indecency, and the main characters were all likeable.
I loved The Glades! I’ve watched 3 times and I’m so disappointed on how it ended. I would love to see more of this show
I am sorry The Glades has been cancelled. Loved the show. Would love to see it revived.
I am sad and upset at such a bad ending. I watched it all, ups and downs, and to be end makes me sick
why was my post deleted??
I have never seen a more unprofessional way to end a series. The direction and writing had changed dramatically for the worse, but your actors and public were dealing with it. To just stop a series that could have ended…even with a wedding..would have shown far more consideration for the fans…then just dropping it . You stretched out your last episode with ridiculous repetition of a poorly written murder that could have been replaced by a wedding.Still a cop out, but better then your resolve. The ending of Longmire was poorly resolved, but not as embarrassing as the way you… Read more »
Wow, could not believe that the series has been cancelled. To leave fans with that kind of ending is totally unfair. What the heck are you thinking? Wish there was someway to know of any future projects you have so I can boycott them. Kind of makes you mad. Just wrong….in my opinion.
I will never watch anything on A&E again. I had started watching Longmire, and bam they cancelled it. I just got though watching The Glades only to find out they have cancelled it. Two great shows, two great mistakes for A&E. We can only hope Netflix will pick both up so we can continue watching two great shows.
A&E what are you thinking? I thought the show was excellent – suspenseful, artful, wonderfully cast, funny, and entertaining. I watched it on Netflix. I would have watched it on your network if I’d have known about it (so who’s fault is that…). But to punish viewers who have committed to FOUR years of watching your show with that ending, makes me want to commit to never watching A&E again!!
