Debra Messing had a long and successful run on NBC on Will & Grace while later series Smash was cancelled after two seasons. How do things look for The Mysteries of Laura? Will it see a second season?
The Mysteries of Laura revolves around a brilliant-but-harried NYPD homicide detective (Messing) who must also juggle her home life, including raising her young twin boys and trying to divorce her husband. The rest of the cast includes Josh Lucas, Laz Alonso, Janina Gavankar, Max Jenkins, Vincent Reina, and Charlie Reina.
The series debuted in September to a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.19 million viewers. It was an okay start for a new drama on NBC. The demo dropped 25% in week two while viewership dropped only slightly.
Unfortunately, the ratings have continued to drop over the course of the season. Mysteries of Laura recently hit a new series low with a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic and just 5.82 million viewers.
The show’s ratings are poor and it could easily be cancelled. However, NBC is still having only mixed success with their overall schedule. Depending on their current crop of show pilots, their schedule problems could be enough of a reason for the network execs to renew Laura for a second season.
We’ll likely have to wait until May (when the networks announce their 2015-16 schedules) to find out if Debra Messing will be back on NBC next fall.
But, what do you think? Do you like The Mysteries of Laura? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I LOVE IT!!!! PLEASE KEEP IT. THE ENTIRE CAST IS WONDERFUL!!!!
Love the show!
Unless it’s an not so funny comedy or an unrealistic reality show not much hope for it to make it.
I am not a fan of this show. Stopped watching after a few episodes.
I agree with Dawn. Sometimes afraid to watch new series because they get cancelled. Please bring it back for fall.
Love this show. Characters are interesting & there’s a lot of room to continue developing plot lines. I do not watch my shows live, but use HULU to watch them when my time permits. Sure hope people like me are being counted as viewers!
Love this show! Solid, highly enjoyable cast, upbeat story lines that are preferable to the dark grunge on so many night time shows. The comedic element is reasonably witty and the show has a realistically pro feminist attitude that is a pleasant change of pace. Don’t blow this, NBC, give them a second season. They keep improving as they go!
We enjoy the show and will be again disappointed if it is cancelled without giving it a chance. We would love to see it renewed.
Great show love the characters Debra messing is
great along with the other stars this show is a KEEPER
KEEP IT! Love it!
Not a bad show, but crime sit/drama’s are ok and I suppose this show does it as good as it can be done. I do watch this show, maybe switch this show to Saturday Night along with Stalker and US viewers would have two great shows on Saturday!!!!
Another show I watched and didn’t think was worth the time to keep watching. Just a so-so show, with a so-so story, so-so characters and so-so acting. I would so not miss this show if it were cancelled.
I love this show!!! why is it every show I love gets cancelled?? PLEASE keep this show on.
Good show with interesting characters. We enjoy it and would like to see it stay.
I LOVE, LOVE THIS SHOW! The characters are wonderful and there is so much humor in it. I so hope they will renew it!
