Even though Starz just premiered their new TV series, The White Queen, we already know there won’t be a second season.
Based on Philippa Gregory’s bestselling historical novel series The Cousin’s War, The White Queen tells the story of three very different women as they attempt to scheme, manipulate and seduce their way onto the English throne. The cast includes Max Irons, James Frain, Rebecca Ferguson, Janet McTeer, Ben Lamb, Amanda Hale, Tom McKay, Aneurin Barnard, David Oakes, Faye Marsay, and Eleanor Tomlinson.
The show is co-financed by the BBC in the United Kingdom and Starz here in the states. The 10-part series began airing on BBC1 in June and completed its run last Sunday night.
According to Broadcast Now, the BBC has maintained that The White Queen was intended to run just one season. However, Gregory had hinted that there were hopes to continue the drama via an adaptation of The White Princess. That novel follows the story of Elizabeth of York who went on to marry Henry VII, the first Tudor King.
It now appears that a continuation won’t be happening. A BBC spokesperson said, “The White Queen will not be returning, but it is important to note that it was never actually conceived as a returnable series.”

I think the white should continue,there should be a second season , because the ending wasn’t , a ending it was the beginning of a new king and queen .
I am so hooked on the White Queen and tried to find Season 2. Imagine my severe disappointment to fin out the show was canceled after only one season. How tragic!! Please reconsider, and renew the series!!! I’m going through QUEEN withdraw……

This was and is a great TV series, I love watching the reruns but I want more. I hope they will consider to bring on season 2

I’m Seriously Bummed. i loved every second and it drew me in, in seconds. and every time i try to just watch an episode i end up watching the entire series again. (i think its been 8 times now). i’ll seriously miss not having a follow up.
Sad to see it go. Such a great story with actors that I felt brought then settings to life and gave such definition to each character no matter how small. I hoped it was going to be picked up for a second season but the ratings are not in our (the fans) favor.

Loved this show very much..as did all those I watched it on Amazon with.. We were addicted. It has inspired me to read and love all of Phillippa Gregory novels and learn so much more about English Royal history. Please please continue this brilliant series..

The reason why there is a lot of crappy shows out there…is because the good ones don’t get to have season 2 !! Shame!
There has to be a season 2! Just has to. The White Queen season 1 was extremely fascinating, breath taking and most of all educational!
The unbelievable relations between the different houses is almost too entertaining to be true and bloody hell it’s a huge part of our very history and the way England is today!
Why cancel a show that is tremendously good for common knowledge and is everything but superficial like most tv-shows today?!
Agreed! Philippa Gregory is a masterful Author! This is only the beginning, there are many more pages of the story to be written. Please make a second, third, fourth. I subscribed to Starz specifically for this series!
