The X-Files is back on FOX, and an all-new episode of the revival will air on FOX later tonight. However, the episodes are not airing in their originally intended order.
Chris Carter has now revealed the reason why the episodes are airing out of order on FOX. Chris Carter shared with TV Insider about the change of order during an interview.
He said:
“Because we have a story arc that runs through the middle of the series…we were concerned that, coming right off a mythology episode [and] going right into a standalone episode, people would say, ‘What’s happened?’ So, it actually worked out. It served Episode 2 better to replace it with 5. It created a better continuity…We’ve come and done what we’ve always done: we give you an amazing mix of episodes—we’ve given you thriller episodes, we’ve given you scary episodes, emotional episodes, comedy episodes.”
The X-Files has made a splash with its return to FOX. Does this change of order for the episodes bother you? Tell us what you think.
It’s a little goofy, but then that was always the nature of the X-Files. Going to the forest & almost dying, Pregnant Dana talking on the phone while Fox investI gates w/pointing out the flush toilet created by Thomas Crapper, taking a strange looking guy to a concert “Walking in Memphis ” and too many to mention. We’re all glad to have them back. Bring em all back again. Cancer man still smoking thru a tracheostomty—what a jerk. This is fun any way—but you have to change their signatures. How do we get a copy!!! Great show and terrific films.… Read more »
Terribly disappointed in this series – especially after this 3rd episode, which seemed like a VERY poorly done take-off of Grimm.
To me, the biggest flaw in the series, as a whole, is the over-the-top explanatory monologues by Mulder, which are reminiscent of a conspiracy nut on a forum, responding to a skeptic, with a long-winded rant that attempts to fill in all the blanks. There’s no progressive development of a story or plot, no betting on the intelligence of the viewers to figure things out as it unfolds. No, Let’s over-explain everything with a Mulder rant.
What monologues are you referring to other than the one in the premier of this current season with O’Malley? I agree that was a bit over the top but…nothing else that I can recall from the past 4 episodes that have aired? Seems like the actors are having some fun with this. And Carter is on record as saying this was not intended to be a victory lap. I imagine it was also never intended to wrap things up in a neat little package from a mythology standpoint. It’s been entertaining, if you take it for what it is, now… Read more »
Just because you have not watched The X-Files from the first season, you cant just say it sucks or that you feel dissapointed in the show.
Dont pass on comments just for the sake of it!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are some continuity issues – Mulder and his cell phone, their office at the FBI. But nothing that’s big enough to change my enjoyment of this season.
Love this show, not one damn thing wrong with it. Hope is stays on for another 6 years. Don’t mess with this show. It is perfect as is.
So far I am rather disappointed on the first two episosdes. Tone down on the aliens and government conspiracy, I was bored of this aspect in the original series as well. The X-Files is best when it is investigating and explaining the unusal.
Personnally I don’t think anyone in the government is smart enough to put together a conspiracy, let alone keep it active and quiet for years.
As avid a fan as am I of The X-Files, I must say that I am disappointed feel that the “powers that be” holding the reins of the show are making a big mistake in over-weighting the number of non-mythology/mytharc shows- with the aliens, the government conspiracies (especially in a time when, in real life, our citizenry has never been more suspect of the government) and the very reason Mulder does what he does- as compared to the “monster”/non-mythology episodes. It appears that, at least in the first six episodes, that there will only be two “mythology” episodes and four… Read more »
I don’t care I just want to see it and I hope that the series continues after this. I live in France and have no idea when we will get it here so you should all just be happy that you can watch!
Love the x-files they are great just keep them coming I love the whole series everybody I know loves it I hope this whole series is not the only theories I hope the season comes out next season and more seasons to come also it is a great show everybody I know loves it
They could air episodes backwards and in an alien language that I don’t understand. I would still watch them. The X-Files are back and everything is right in the world. Awesome
I agree with every fiber of my being! I’m an old-school fan from back in the day, & I’m lovin’ this season, so what’s with all the negative remarks people? Did you expect miracles in six episodes? Sit back & enjoy!
