In December, we reported that the BBC was revamping their long-running series Top Gear with a new host and team. Now, Deadline is reporting that Matt LeBlanc will be joining the car show as a co-host.
Last year, the show’s long-time host Jeremy Clarkson left alongside co-hosts James May and Richard Hammond. Chris Evans will take Clarkson’s place as the new host of the series.
This is the first time an American will co-host the BBC series, but it isn’t the first time LeBlanc has worked in the UK. The Friends star currently plays one of the leads in the BBC Two/Showtime series Episodes. LeBlanc has previously appeared on Top Gear as a celebrity guest twice.
From LeBlanc:
As a car nut and a massive fan of Top Gear, I’m honored and excited to be a part of this iconic show’s new chapter.”
The new season of Top Gear premieres on May 5th on the BBC.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Top Gear? Will you watch the new season with LeBlanc and Chris Evans?
