Sadly, the Visitors aren’t among us any longer. After two short seasons, ABC has cancelled their V TV series.
A reimagining of the original V, this series tells the tale of what happens when an advanced alien race arrives of Earth professing their desire to help mankind. Fortunately, not everyone trusts them. The second season features the talents of Charles Mesure, Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Joel Gretsch, Laura Vandervoort, Logan Huffman, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, and Scott Wolf.
For season one, V ended up averaging a 2.25 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 5.7 million average viewers. It was “on the bubble” but ended up being renewed for a 13 episode second season. The network was hoping that the show would catch on and the ratings would improve.

ABC later reduced the episode order to just 10 installments and debuted them mid-season. Unfortunately, ABC’s gamble didn’t pay off. Season two of V ended up averaging only a 1.9 in the demo and 5.49 million viewers.
Though the network and producers maintained that the show was still in contention for next season, it was clear that there would only be a third season of V if ABC was willing to gamble once again. In the end, they weren’t.
ABC confirmed today that V has been cancelled after two seasons and 22 episodes. The series finale aired on March 15th and, unfortunately, there were lots of unresolved cliffhangers. Hopefully the producers will someday share what they had in mind for season three.
What do you think? Are you sad that V won’t be returning next season? Why do you think the series didn’t catch on?

V was a great show. A lot of imagination went into it. You will have a hard time finding a villaness like that again. What the hell were people watching Tom @ Jerry! Bring it back!
I can’t believe it!!!! I WILL NOT watch ABC period. All the crappy shows they have on and they cancel a really good one!
Very sad indeed! I missed that show and I’m keeping hope to see the season 3 one day …
This is a sad decision by ABC to cancel this show. The Plot was fantastic. The actors were brilliant on both the good and the bad side. It was obvious that it was worked out to be a lasting series, but I guess when they found out they were going to be canceled, they tried to jam everything they could into the last few episodes. What a shame.!!! The way the each side went back and forth was awesome. This was a GREAT show. You know what, sometimes the so called rating are wrong.
Any show that is thought provoking, well written, and has more depth than a mud puddle gets canceled because ABC and the general American public are incapable of intelligent thought. I have enjoyed many shows that are done well and watched them get flushed while those that are shallow and/or simply stupid get rave reviews from the masses.
Saddened once again!
Here I have been waiting for it to come back at the first of 2012 like they said at the end of last season. And now to do a search and find this. V was different and had already established a good following. And I am not even a SciFi guy and I liked it. You telling me you cant sell ads to 5.2 million viewers ? B.S. ABC you just dont have the production money to sustain it. No wonder your 3rd. Watch out, PBS is gaining on you.
Another good show down the drain. The reality shows seem to really thrive and I’m sure many people are sick of them. What a pity that the good shows are always cancelled.
It’s so frustrating to get into a great show just to have it canceled. V is just one of those shows. It’s so nice to have something new and different. I’m really going to miss it!
I’m really sad that this show is cancelled I was really looking forward to it. It figures that they would cancel V and NOF but keep the crazy ones.
i am very disappointed that they have elected not to renew V. It was highlight of my day to see the show. I even dvr the series in cqase i was going to be late from work. I thought the acting was superb and the plot was extremely interesting. Hopefully they will reconsider their decision in the future or perhaps sell the rights to the Sci Fi channel so the the third season and hopefully others would be completed
I agree with Rick’s comment. ABC just doesn’t seem to get what shows should stay and which one’s should go. I watched V and have also anticipated it’s return for this season to no avail. I will not be watching ABC! That was the one show that actually lured me back to their program. Get a clue ABC.
They should not have cancelled V. It was a great show with great actors. I’ve been looking for it to come back and finally looked on the web to see when it would be returning. I’m very upset that it won’t be back. It seems all the good shows are cancelled. I believe the Sci-Fi should have been advertised more. If I didn’t click around on the stations, I wouldn’t have known it was on.
The current Government leaders shut down V due to the time when Obama attempted to create a scare for people to become vaccinated for the swine flu. He met with officials in Mexico before this “epidemic” happened. Then the swine flu was a bigger deal in mexico and was stirred up to cause panic in the u.s.a. All to sell a product to consumers. V the show had a similiar story line that the aliens were attempting to trick citizens into taking a vaccine that would cause harm. The political message in the show V in my opinion is what… Read more »
and thats the reason i hate ABC they always cancel the good show and keep the crappy ones
