There always has to be a first TV show cancellation and this season’s came much later than expected. Though several new shows have been essentially cancelled (Minority Report, Blood & Oil, Truth Be Told, and The Player), they are all still on the air. On Friday the 13th, ABC pulled the plug on their newest (and lowest-rated) drama after just three episodes.
Wicked City is set on the seedy Sunset Strip in the early 1980s. It revolves around Detective Jack Roth (Jeremy Sisto) and his new partner Paco Contreras (Gabriel Luna) as they try to solve a high-profile serial killer case. The rest of the show’s cast includes Ed Westwick, Erika Christensen, Taissa Farmiga, Karolina Wydra, Evan Ross, Anne Winters, and Jaime Ray Newman.
The cancellation was far from a surprise as Wicked City’s ratings were poor right from the start and they dropped lower and lower each week. For whatever reason, the audience just wasn’t interested. However, that’s not to say that the cast and crew didn’t put just as much effort and pride into the series as the creative people who work on a top rated show.
Following the cancellation, some of them took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

What do you think? Will you miss watching Wicked City on ABC? Do you think that ABC could have given the series a better chance?
Very disappointed Wicked City was cancelled, this was my favorite new show. Please bring it back. Loved loved it
I’m very dissapointed in ABC right now for pulling the plug on this AWESOME show! The cast is amazing and the story line is gripping! At least let us watch the remaining episodes! C’mon other networks pick this show up!
So upset. It really was a incredibly interesting story line and it sucked you in from the beginning. I just hope someone else picks it up!
3 episodes.. really…unfair..at least let the season finish out…it was full of potential
I love Wicked City. So dissapointed It was cancelled. I will not be watching ABC anymore! You guys suck!
This show was quite good & I’m very dissapointed in ABC for not giving Wicked City at least a full season to get more viewers & fans. This show & story line can go far and I think it was on the right track. Only 3 episodes… REALLY?! Not fair to the cast nor anyone else that is a part of this show. Now the millions of viewers that watched Wicked City are probably watching tv shows on other channels such as FX, CW, etc., so it’s ABC’s loss of viewers regardless of the numbers.
This sucks, I just checked my DVR to watch last night’s episode and find out its cancelled! I love this show! Love the cast! Thanks ABC for getting me interested and then just pulling the plug at the lat second. You didn’t even give it a chance. So disappointed.
Feel exactly the same! I was into Wicked City! And then it’s gone!
Loved this show! Not happy that it’s been canceled. I work early in the morning and can’t watch it at it’s broadcast time, but planned on watching it online and/or dvr’ing it. ABC needs to realize that times are changing and not everyone watches tv like they did in the 80’s and 90’s. There’s a reason that HBO and other cable shows are so popular . It’s about time they caught on!!!!!
I really enjoyed this show and I’m upset it was cancelled. I feel like this has happened to several other shows in the past on ABC. I’m just not going to watch any new shows in that network. I get hooked in and then they just yank it.
ABC sucks!!!! I was just getting into the show. I love the cast and wish they could at least have finished the season.
I am so disappointed that this show is cancelled!!! At least give us the remainder of episodes! I really hope it’s picked up on another network, FX would be awesome they can do a lot more with the storyline.
I agree!
I CAN NOT BELIEVE YOU WOULD CANCEL THIS AWESOME SHOW AND NOT EVEN FINISH THE SEASON!!! CANCELLING THIS AND BLOOD AND OIL IS CRAP! BOTH HAD TONS OF POTENTIAL AND REALLY GRABBED YOU! BUT HEY WHO DOESNT WANT TO WATCH CRAP SHARK TANK RERUNS!! NOT! I WILL NOT BE WATCHING ABC ANYMORE!
I loved wicked city
My sister and I loved this show….…..they should have at least finished the season. …
Loved this show! Can’t believe they cancel so quickly and for what to put a repeat show in its place? What’s the point in that? I’m tired of the networks doing this. At least give the whole season. So disappointing. Btw the cast is great!
