After four seasons on ABC Family, teen drama Wildfire ends tonight. Devoted fans are understandably upset. So, why is it leaving?
Wildfire debuted back on June 25, 2005 and revolves around the world of horse racing. The series began with teen Kristine “Kris” Furillo (Genevieve Cortese) coming to the Raintree Farm from a juvenile detention center.
Season one averaged just over a million weekly viewers and season two increased to 1.56 million, an increase of over 50%. Unfortunately, season three dropped back to the first year’s numbers. Season four debuted in January. Soonafter, ABC Family announced that Wildfire had been cancelled.
Fans have petitioned ABC Family to continue the series. The folks at SaveWildfire.com have sent truckloads of hay, 500 cast iron horseshoes, apples, rope, and 1,000 pounds of carrots. Unfortunately, it’s higher ratings and additional viewers that the show really needs. As CBS learned from Jericho, a passionate campaign doesn’t necessarily mean that viewers will tune in.
ABC Family’s media relations manager, Amy Maloney, told the Albuquerque Journal that the fan support doesn’t come as much of a surprise. She said, “It is par for the course, in a sense that we’ve always known there is a strong fan base for the show… It’s flattering. It’s exciting.” In other words, Wildfire has a core audience but it’s not big enough for ABC Family.
Word is that Lionsgate, the company that produces the series, is looking for a new home for Wildfire. If the series is renewed, producer Lester Berman the cast and crew are ready. He says, “We’re saving a lot of the set dressing and the uniforms. We’re putting it in storage just in case there’s a miracle that [Wildfire] comes back.”
When the cast and crew wrapped their filming in June 2007, they were unsure if they would be back for season five. A few months ago, Cortese spoke proudly of Wildfire and the season four closer. She said, “I think we have one of the best casts and crews in television… On the other hand, we also end (this season) on a really cool note. I’d be glad to go back and get to work again with people I love, but if not, at least I’ll know we did a great job.” Stay tuned! 
I found the series on Feeling network and i am down to the last 2 episodes. I was hoping that somewhere in someones archives there could or would be a continuing saga. I absolutely love it and wished it was still in production.
I also have just watched this series in the last 2 weeks.. didn’t know it was on back then but what a come back it would be if you could bring it back NOW !!!! 10 years later to see what they all did since when the last episode aired… I also watched this series on Feeln and I agree with Ralph that is was the best tv series I have seen in a long time. and I don’t mean what they did outside the show I mean what they could have done if the series went a few more… Read more »
Wildfire is one of the best tv series ever put on tv. My wife and I watched every episode. Can’t believe we had never heard of it. We watched it on Feeln. Love this series. Why can’t you bring it back? We need more shows like this on tv. More people would watch tv if we had quality shows like this one.

I just saw this movie and all the seasons about a week ago , just got done with last episode today , it was so beautiful such a great movie couldn’t stop watching it till I watched every episode, so sad there will be no more , can’t believe it came out in 2005-2007 , never seen it before till now , beautiful just beautiful , loved it alllllll , wish there was more ,, sincerely one of Wildfires biggest fans ,

I usually never comment on anything, but I just have to put it out there… this show was an inspiration. I learned to love horses more & I think I want my own one day when I grow a family. It made me realize how much part of you a horse can be, the closure, the love, the happiness. Not only humans have feelings… animals do too. This show also showed me the truth about love. I loved this tv series . My daughter and I enjoyed watching this together as we are avid riders and this show was getting so good to just end it the way they did . Sure would like to know how Chris and Junior are doing , has she made a run for the Kentucky Derby how is her career going , how is Pablo and Jean doing , did they ever marry and also how are Matt and Dani doing . I want to know if Chris and junior stay together and how there marriage is doing and whether Kris retires wildfire or keeps in racing.I need to know about Flame whether he turns out to be just like his father Wildfire. I need to find out what happens to Jean and Pablo. If they get married, or if Pablo finally decides to get the balls to tell Jean that he loves her. Why do all the good shows get cancelled? and all the crap shows keep going?

Love this series, have it on DVD. Love Season 4, the best season out of them all. I loved Noah in S4, he was hilarious. I also loved the addition of Calvin.
Just started watching season3 can’t believe it wasn’t on tonight,seems fair to least get to watch till the end of season4,that just wasn’t right especially with no notice.

I just started watching wildfire and just finished season 4. They really really need to bring it back. I need to find out what happens to Jean and Pablo. If they get married, or if Jean even finds out Pablo loves her. I want to know if Chris and junior stay together and how there doing.
