Even before it premiered, Work It was getting plenty of negative reviews. Some believe there’s no such thing as bad publicity though and that attention may have drawn a few more people to watch Work It than normally might have.
Work It revolves around a pair of unemployed guys (Ben Koldyke and Amaury Nolasco) who believe the only way they can find jobs as pharmaceutical reps is to pretend to be women. Unfortunately, once they start work, they realize the ruse isn’t as easy as it seemed. The sitcom also features Beth Lacke, John Caparulo, Rebecca Mader, Rochelle Aytes, Kate Reinders, Kirstin Eggers, and Hannah Sullivan.
Last night’s premiere, per the fast affiliate ratings, registered a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.1 million total viewers. On the positive side, Work It retained 80% of its Last Man Standing lead-in and improved over the last original episode of Man Up! by 25%. That’s probably how ABC will try to spin these numbers into looking promising.
The reality is that Work It had a weak debut and the network was down by 17% when compared to the lackluster premiere of Man Up!. The ratings for Man Up! fell quite quickly and, with many calling Work It the worst new show of the season, there’s no reason to expect that Work It’s numbers won’t drop even quicker.
It’s often difficult to predict a show’s fate after just one airing but Work It looks likely to be cancelled already. Cougar Town fans are no doubt overjoyed and happily await for the network to announce the early return of Courteney Cox and company.
What do you think? Did you tune in to Work It? Was it worth your time? Will you come back next week?

Cancel That Horrible, decrepit show.
It’s nothing more than a RIPOFF of Busom Buddies.
EWW…..EWWW….EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.
I liked the show damn it.
If anything, it forces the Transg’d folks to relax on the sensativity already! Can you please laugh at yourself once in a while like all us “normal” folks have to do? Might I add, DAILY!
If one wants to be accepted in society then they have to be able to roll with a few jabs.
Work it does that.
they cancelled Man Up! for this piece of crap? way to go ABC
I can sum it up in one word…SUX.
I still don’t understand what network exec actually thought this show was better than Man Up! much less Cougar Town
I’ve just now realized Amaury Nolasco is in this — has the promotion for this show been so little or have I just been successfully avoiding it at every turn? Either way, I agree with others that he deserves a better show than this. Hopefully when this fails it’ll be good news for Cougar Town, though! Will be interesting to see what the next showing of this show rates as.
its Bosom Buddies again, picking my nose is more entertaining that this show.
This show really needs a Donna Dixon and Wendie Jo Sperber. They added the laughs and looks that are missing from this show. Another problem is that the men are so masculine that nobody would mistake them for women. They would have never been hired in the first place walking in looking like football players in drag.
Wasn’t this already done decades ago. I think it was called Bossom Buddies and the actors and actresses where much better than this version.
Amaury Nolasco was great on prison break and has done really well in his small movie rolls but this is just beyond strange. I will however agree with one thing from the show. It is a lot easier for a woman to find work. At least in my experience that is.
The show is missing something, but I can’t put my finger on it just yet. I watched, and within minutes guessed that this show will not make it to a full season pickup. Between the backlash with GLAAD and the overuse of the oldest jokes on the planet I just don’t see it going anywhere in a market that cancels good shows. Of course that being said, the show will probably last for a decade. LOL
I could tell right away from the promos that this show wasn’t going to last very long.
I DVR’d it and watched most of it. I felt bad for Amaury Nolasco who was so great on “Prison Break.” He really deserves a better show. Will not watch it next week if it’s back but was curious because of all the hype. Bring on “Cougar Town.”
I haven’t seen this nor do I plan to. It’s the 2012 version of “Busom Buddies”. This will be off the air in no time.
I could only bear to watch it for 5 minutes. It is dreadful, with no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
