Hot in Cleveland: Original TV Land Sitcom; Cancel or Keep It?

Hot in ClevelandAfter loads of promotion, TV Land has now debuted their original sitcom, Hot in Cleveland. Starring a quartet of sitcom veterans, is the TV show worth watching?

Hot in Cleveland follows three women from Los Angeles who’ve supposedly passed their prime. They’re on their way to Paris to check another item off their “bucket list” when their plane has to land in Cleveland. They quickly learn to love the Midwestern city and take up residence, living in a house that’s got a sassy caretaker. The series stars Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick, and Betty White. Future guests include Wayne Knight, Shirley Knight, Huey Lewis, Hal Linden, Susan Lucci, Juliet Mills, Carl Reiner, and Amy Yasbeck.

Executive produced by Sean Hayes (Will & Grace), Todd Milliner, and Suzanne Martin, Hot in Cleveland debuted on June 16th. The first episode attracted 4.75 million viewers with a 1.9 rating in the 25-54 demographic.

While those numbers aren’t great for a regular network, they make Hot in Cleveland the most-watched and highest-rated broadcast in TV Land’s history.

The sitcom got mixed reviews so the big question is, “How many viewers will keep tuning in week after week?” The ratings for new shows typically drop off 10-20% in the second week but even if that many viewers don’t return, TV Land will still likely be very happy with the show’s ratings. There are nine episodes left in season one. Even if the ratings take a big nosedive, they’ll all surely air.

The first season was ok, but it has the same old tire plots week after week. Just give Betty White her own comedy. I think Valerie Bertinelli was ok but what is her claim to fame? One Day At a Time, Lifetime movies, and Jenny Craig spokesperson. We all lose weight she got paid to do it and promote their food. The other two ladies are ok but I would rather watch reruns of old comedy series than this tired show. TVLand needs some fresh ideas and this show has run its course.

Hot in Cleveland is one of the best TV shows in a long time. All the characters on the show are great. About Valerie B. she is very good comedian I totally disagree with the person who said she isn’t. Betty White is priceless. The other ladies are wonderful. Please for once TV executives be smart and keep this show. When is it coming back on, haven’t seen it for over a month. I miss it.

Cancel it. Give Betty White her own show; she deserves it. Valerie Bertinelli can’t and never could do comedy. If it doesn’t get cancelled, at least get rid of Bertinelli; she’s the weakest link.

I can’t get enough of this show! Betty White is as sharp as ever and the three ladies are a hoot! Fabulous guest stars- my favorite was Bonnie Franklin! I shouted with laughter when she came on screen as Melanie’s boyfriend’s mother!

you better keep the show going. i cant wait for it to come on each week. betty white is great in her role and really keeps the show going. joy is great also and is a tribute to the show ( love her acksent ) vallarie is still as hot as ever s0 ( iam still in love with her after all these years ) and the 4th girl is alright and fits in and rounds of the cast great
