TV shows that were inspired by movies have a mixed track record. Some are cancelled quickly while others end up running for years. 12 Monkeys did well enough for Syfy to renew it for a second season but it wasn’t a hit in the ratings. Will the numbers go up this time around or will they fall? Cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned.
On 12 Monkeys, a virus has wiped out most of the world’s population by the year 2043. One time traveler, James Cole (Aaron Stanford), must journey to 2015 to try to stop the Army of the 12 Monkeys from creating it. Other castmembers include Amanda Schull, Kirk Acevedo, Emily Hampshire, Barbara Sukowa, and Tom Noonan.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

What do you think? Do you like the 12 Monkeys TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a third season?
I like the as show and glad for season 3. Syfy shows don’t do that great in ratings period. They don’t draw in ratings like major networks of other cable stations. This is good ratings for them. If they go by ratings numbers then shut the whole syfy network down. The channel doesn’t pull big ratings period
Since SYFY is owned by NBC Universal, which is part of the COMCAST Empire, and they have oodles of money, we need to know why this channel isn’t pulling ratings? SYFY cancelled shows with better ratings and brought in new shows with atrocious ratings. Maybe they should just shut it down, but since they just renewed 12 Monkeys, they need to keep it running for another season.
Thank you Syfy for renewing 12 Monkeys!
I’m so happy there’s going to be a season 3. I absolutely love this show. Thank you Syfy! This is the best and most intelligent show on tv right now. Hopefully, they’ll start streaming in on Netflix and maybe get some more viewers for season 3.
I guess I have to eat my words. 12 Monkeys was renewed for a 10 episode season three. Congrats to all the diehard fans. Your faith has been rewarded. I never thought that a show with a 0.11 rating could be renewed, but SYFY proved me wrong. Maybe Wynonna Earp will be renewed now. SYFY and NBC Universal have single handedly destroyed the ratings system. Nielsen can pack it all in now. There isn’t any point if a show with those 0.11 ratings can be renewed. Fortunately, I don’t work for NBC Universal because if I did, most of you… Read more »
I really hope they renew Wynonna Earp. I think it has potential to get better ratings next season. And it is better than 12 Monkeys by far, it deserves at least a second season… come on Syfy!!!
I hope so too! It seems Wynonna Earp’s ratings are better and it’s only on it’s first season. The fandom is growing everyday too, and it’s really getting popular online. I’d be really shocked if it gets cancelled because it has a lot of potential.
Honestly Syfy did 12 Monkeys no favors by moving the show to Monday nights. The show is a great show but they should of left it on Fridays. Maybe if they put it back on Friday for season 3 the ratings would go back to it’s season 1 numbers and better. As for Wynonna Earp they they don’t have 12 Monkeys season 1 numbers. If there’s a season 2 then they would have to make some changes so the numbers don’t fall to 0.00 They’ll be working against the dreaded sophomore slump and they have to bring their A game.… Read more »
Amazing that people think that a show with a 0.11 ratings deserves to be renewed. A 0.00 is snow. I’d love to know what happened to all the viewers the show had last year? Did they die from the plague? Someone said Hulu may own part of the show. If they do, or Netflix takes it over, I could see it coming back. Otherwise, unless the show starts doing 0.2’s and higher from here on out, it’s done.
The ratings are fake! Always fake. And 12 Monkeys just like any other tv show produced by studios that are multinationals is sold worldwide. There are millions of viewers in the world and the studios is getting a huge profit out of every single show. The real issue here is just that most studios managers are criminals. They tamper with the ratings, they cancel shows for their mafia fights for power inside the studios, they do that to evade taxes and avoid paying percentage to directors, producers, actors.
That is the truth. The studios spread lies most of the times.
The show averaged a 0.25 per episode last season and is now averaging a 0.11 per episode. Why would they want to kill their own show, especially when a 0.25 would be good enough for renewal. There are no lies here. People aren’t watching it the way they were. It’s averaged a 0.14 twice this season. That’s the best it has done. You better pray Hulu keeps paying for it or Netflix picks it up. Otherwise, it’s a goner.
Better shows that perform worse have been cancelled. Disjointed story lines littered with gratuitous violence. I’m the idiot for polluting my mind. 12 Monkeys should go.
I just discovered season 2 of 12 Monkeys a couple weeks ago and was immediately drawn to it. I set my dvr up to download and record season 2. I found it so interesting that I signed up for Hulu to watch season 1. I think Amanda Shull is quite talented and I hope Syfy renews 12 Monkeys for a 3rd season.
Would still be watching this had Syfy not canceled Defiance. Got to stick to my boycott of the network. Too bad too, I enjoyed this show.
I love this show!!! Please renew it!
Everything depends on ratings, so far ratings average are higher than 1st season so…maybe. Then again networks aren’t necessarily in the business of giving a damn. If they aren’t making money then it dies. I hope it stays but that’s all we can do is hope. Unless you are in control of a million or so viewing devices that count towards the ratings then you can make a big difference.
As far as Dominion, good show, wouldn’t say it was the best…12 Monkeys is better…don’t get me started because then I’ll end up going to Limitless…Arrgghh!
true to an extent, the part about making money. they do continue to produce projects that are money losers on the front end but after air they result in profits for the studio, not necessarily for the production at the time.
It’s sad how many shows with great acting and complicated (but cohesive) plot lines get cancelled. I hope that Syfy does the “right” thing instead of the business as usual thing and allows this show to live on. I think, if cancelled, that it will be like Firefly, Star Trek, and other shows cancelled before their time and which develop a fanatical following. It’s great work, and though the audience is currently small, that will not always be so.
Amazing show, I can’t understand why so low ratting. I believe is actual the best show in tv serie.
The ratings are always fake and tampered with by studios managers. That is the awful truth. They lie, they cheat, they steal, they evade taxes. And they cancel excellent tv shows productions to do all that crap.
Way too complicated, and that is disappointing as I want to want to watch this.
I love this show, I really wish it gets a 3 season
This is an excellent show – I hope adding it to Hulu will bring in some more viewers. It’s one we shouldn’t lose!!!
Still can’t believe they keep this on over Dominion. Just sad.
Bring back Dominion!
I am so with you Josh. SYFY has gone down the tube since Dominion, the best show ever was cancelled. I want it back too.
Dunno how you could hold that position. I thought Dominion was an average show that was hurt primarily by very bad actors. It was a less than mediocre show in my opinion. 12 Monkeys has a more interesting plot and miles better acting on the whole.
Dominion and Helix were excellent shows. 12 Monkeys is the best sci-fi show right now but the studios managers want to cancel it anyway. Just like they will cancel Dark Matter and Killjoys too. These shows are expensive to produce and most managers want to produce cheap crap shows for maximum profit. Their little brains think 24/7 about cheating and stealing money and nothing else. They don’t care about product quality and customers satisfaction nor they give a damn about real profit to their own studios, they care about how much they can steal inside the studios by killing productions… Read more »
