The network’s still doing well so CBS is playing it safe once again this fall. The Tiffany network is introducing very few new shows this year and sticking with most of the old favorites. Here’s what won’t be back for the 2007-08 season:
Armed & Famous – The short-lived celebrity cop show was pulled from the air back in January. All existing episodes have been aired on VH1 or CBS and there won’t be any more.
The Class – This show was devoutly loved by its fans but they were too few in number. CBS is committed to one night of comedy which means four sitcom slots. CBS chose to try one new series and renew four others with higher ratings than The Class
Close to Home – This crime drama has been rumored to be in trouble for months and, unfortunately, the rumors were true. The final episode (#44) aired last Friday.
Jericho – The Skeet Ulrich drama about a small town following a nuclear disaster started off strong but lost viewers when it returned from hiatus. The series finale aired on May 9th, 2007. Episodes are available via iTunes and from Amazon.com.
The King of Queens – The Kevin James sitcom ended its run on Monday night after nine seasons and 207 episodes. Over 13 million watched.
Smith – The Ray Liotta series was the first to go after airing just three episodes. All seven episodes are available on iTunes and Amazon.com.
3 lbs – The Stanley Tucci medical drama replaced Smith and lasted just three episodes. Tucci has been cast in a regular role on NBC’s ER however. All eight episodes are available via Amazon.com
Waterfront – Remember this one? The drama starring Joe Pantoliano as a colorful mayor in Providence, R.I.? Five episodes were completed but it was canned before even one episode aired. Talk about a fast cancellation…
Returning series are: Cold Case, Criminal Minds, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, CSI: New York, Ghost Whisperer, How I Met Your Mother, NCIS, Numb3rs, Rules of Engagement, Shark, 60 Minutes, Survivor, Two and a Half Men, The Unit and Without a Trace.
The Amazing Race and The New Adventures of Old Christine will return midseason (January) or earlier. Stay tuned!

Jerico goes? Unreal. I saw every one and kept looking for them when they were off the air for two months. Not a good way to build a following. You lose.
I can’t believe that CBS cancelled The Class. I guess winning the best new comedy at the People’s Choice Awards wasn’t enough for them. It’s a shame that the people don’t really have a say in what they want to watch. The Class should have been given a second chance.
Why should we waste our ime watching any shows on CBS when they’ll probably be cancelled anyway.
I’m done with CBS. You, too Katie!!!!
Imagine M*A*S*H getting the axe after 3 episodes. You gotta let stuff develop. Ever heard of a little show called “24”?
Hopefully someone will pick up Jericho. They took it off for ten weeks and put it up against American Idol… and the number were still very decent. Should’ve given it a chance as there is a large dedicated fanbase very disappointed right now.
oh my god….canceling Jericho? that was the first network show in years i watched on television. I got all my friends into it and everyone watched every episode. I will never watch network tv again. That’s a promise. God how many crime shows do people need!
The class was an awesome show with actors that actually made you feel their characters. I am extremely unhappy that it is over. Why would they keep shows that had similar ratings yet have shown what they could accomplish and probably will not improve their ratings, when The Class had a great fan base and had a chance on building higher ratings? This was a terrible decision and one I hope CBS will be sorry for in the long run.
I’m with Debbie. CBS and the other networks have a real talent for killing good shows. With Netflix and the DVD availability, I’m going to quit watching network primetime, especially since we have a DVR and can record shows from History Channel and the like and get the season DVD’s through mail. Primetime shows stink anymore anyway with all the “reality” crap on.
Why did they cancel Jericho? They just cancelled a great show!!!! I am very disappointed in CBS.
Now I will watch only 2 programs on their network. How I Met Your Mother and 2 1/2 Men.
Apparently, I was one of the few who waited with anticipation to watch Jericho when it return from hiatus. I have loved the show since day one, and it had such potential in the second season to show the reconstruction of US society. This happens to me every year. Last year, I watched Invasion, loved it, and the network took it away from me. Maybe I need to just rent movies.
I think that is a huge mistake cancelling The Class. I understand it is all about making money, but this show had such a big turnaround from the beginning of the season. I really think it was headed in the right direction. CBS you blew this one.
I really loved Jericho it was 1 show I would make sure I was home to see out of all TV throughout the week, What a lame decision on CBS’s part.
I was excited for the new season.
Screw you CBS.
The Class won best new comedy at the peoples choice awards, was cheap to produce, was a hit with critics, and saw ratings go up slightly late in the season when it was going up against big boys (prison break, deal or no deal).
I’m pretty surprised they didnt renew it. IMO it’s worth ordering more eps.
I can’t believe they’re cancelling Jericho!! started watching FIVE new shows this year, and all but one has been cancelled. is there even a point to watching anything that isn’t already out on DVD anymore?????
I’m sad to see The Class is not going to be showing any longer. I really enjoyed it.
i loved the class so much.
i’m really disappointed in cbs for doing this.
