The network’s still doing well so CBS is playing it safe once again this fall. The Tiffany network is introducing very few new shows this year and sticking with most of the old favorites. Here’s what won’t be back for the 2007-08 season:
Armed & Famous – The short-lived celebrity cop show was pulled from the air back in January. All existing episodes have been aired on VH1 or CBS and there won’t be any more.
The Class – This show was devoutly loved by its fans but they were too few in number. CBS is committed to one night of comedy which means four sitcom slots. CBS chose to try one new series and renew four others with higher ratings than The Class
Close to Home – This crime drama has been rumored to be in trouble for months and, unfortunately, the rumors were true. The final episode (#44) aired last Friday.
Jericho – The Skeet Ulrich drama about a small town following a nuclear disaster started off strong but lost viewers when it returned from hiatus. The series finale aired on May 9th, 2007. Episodes are available via iTunes and from Amazon.com.
The King of Queens – The Kevin James sitcom ended its run on Monday night after nine seasons and 207 episodes. Over 13 million watched.
Smith – The Ray Liotta series was the first to go after airing just three episodes. All seven episodes are available on iTunes and Amazon.com.
3 lbs – The Stanley Tucci medical drama replaced Smith and lasted just three episodes. Tucci has been cast in a regular role on NBC’s ER however. All eight episodes are available via Amazon.com
Waterfront – Remember this one? The drama starring Joe Pantoliano as a colorful mayor in Providence, R.I.? Five episodes were completed but it was canned before even one episode aired. Talk about a fast cancellation…
Returning series are: Cold Case, Criminal Minds, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, CSI: New York, Ghost Whisperer, How I Met Your Mother, NCIS, Numb3rs, Rules of Engagement, Shark, 60 Minutes, Survivor, Two and a Half Men, The Unit and Without a Trace.
The Amazing Race and The New Adventures of Old Christine will return midseason (January) or earlier. Stay tuned!

What a big mistake CBS has done cancelling the Class. It was definitely one of the funniest shows I’ve seen in a long time. I am sad to say, there is very little left to watch on CBS. I really wish the powers that be would reconsider bringing it back.
Please bring back the class. Richie is just hysterical. I love Jason Ritter, he is just as funny as his dad ever was. The cast is a bunch of brilliant actors and I looked forward to the show every week. It will be soarly missed. Please see if there is something that you could do to bring it back to us next season
First they cancelled 3 LBS now it’s The Class and Jericho. Who is making the decisions at CBS?? Oh, that’s right, it’s Kelly Kahl, I think CBS should cancel her.
Close to home,and The Class
were good shows
they were entertaining, not boring like the reality shows. What is the big deal with 15 minutes of fame?????
I have decided not to watch any network shows, why bother? You never get to see more then three shows and then after that gone. I laugh now when the fall line up comes up. It is either junk or just shows you don’t watch because it is going to be cancelled anyways. The networks don’t respect us and I won’t give them the time of day or night again. The heck with them.
I also loved the Class and watched every episode. I think I understand why the ratings weren’t better. If you didn’t see the pilot, you may not have really gotten the concept. I know it’s summed up in the opening but it’s not that simple as it seems once you know what’s going on. I’ve talked to a few people who watched the show here and there but they had no idea that the characters were estranged grade 3 class mates that met at a reunion/surprise party. I think if most viewers watched the pilot, the show would still be… Read more »
It is pretty sad to see Close to Home won’t be coming back. It was a little slow at first, but started to really peak towards the end.
Don’t cancel Close to Home!!! That is one of my favorite shows!! It was something I looked forward to every Friday night!
Bring back Close to Home and Jericho — these are great shows — and got better as time went on — Please bring them back. I can send you a list of 50 people that I know that want you to keep Close to Home. Thanks!
You canceled Jericho?
“Nuts”
Blame CBS again for the 2 month hiatus that ruined the viewing audience after it came back, and thats why it was canceled.
They are worried about $$$, since there SUVs eat about 100$+ a week at the gas pump now.
Jericho – really??? I don’t understand why they would drop a show that had ratings. It may not have been the highest rated show, but come on; it had a large loyal fan base.
I never watched The Class, but based on the posts here I would say they need to rethink dropping Jericho and The Class!!
I feel like never watching CBS again. I LOVED the CLASS!
We mind as well just watching the reality shows b/c no new comedys are being kept on the air.
How can we bring it back???
I am so mad!
I hardly ever watched network shows until JERICHO came on. How can you cancel a show that is so close to reality. Bring the show back CBS and cancel King of queens or shark.
Jericho had to be the best new show on TV. Very bad decision by CBS. Move it to another day or somthing
I can’t believe CBS cancelled the class. That show is the best. They cancelled the class but are bringing back Rules of Engagement (not funny). I hope another network picks up the Class. It is the most original comedy since Seinfeld. Goodbye, CBS. I will no longer watch.
