NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
I am astounded that this new show will not be given the chance to evolve. I have just spent two days watching back to back episodes absolutely on the edge of my seat with the twists and turns of the plot and the brilliant character portrayals by the actors. Now on searching for the much needed Season 2 I am faced with the news that some idiot has decided not to produce one? There is so much rubbish on our Australian television courtesy of America and the one time they get something right, it is squashed. When are you ever… Read more »
I a very disappointed to just learn after watching the first 13 episodes On Demand that this show was cancelled! We were glued to the TV only o find out we will never know the fates of this family.
I highly rate the show.Bring back season 2
We loved Alligence. If it had had a chance in a different time slot to catch on it may have done better.
Love the show. It’s our family favorite! Please renew.
We Loved Allegiance! I couldn’t wait for each episode. Bring it back!!! It’s so well done; you never really gave it a chance!

I think you guys need to keep this & American Odyssey! Those are my favorite shows!!!
They didn’t give this awesome show a chance! How disappointing to lose great television.
I agree!!!! It was one of my favorite shows.
I recorded but didn’t watch Allegiance until recently. Fairly decent show- wish it had been renewed.
I really liked Allegiance!! So sad if it doesn’t return
Bring back Allegiance PLEASE. Maybe it started out slow, but ,having watched the conclusion on “on demand”,turned out to be exceptional.
I LOVED Allegiance! Please bring it back! It was very smart. Unique plot. Acting was impressive and believable. Maybe it just had poor advertising or was on a night too competitive for a new show.
This one isn’t coming back, it isn’t about not enough people watching, it’s Nielsen participants, it’s 1 in 50,000 viewers selected by Nielsen, we watch what this obscure group watches. These shows can cost up to $20 million an episode to make under this business model so they have to get good ratings to pay this ridiculous cost, that some networks like Netflix have been able to streamline and do very well. But Allegiance was filmed and paid for in the beginning of 2014, it was nearly a year before they got around to airing it, so did they ever… Read more »
