NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
I thought the show was great. Most of my friends and family were really enjoying it! In fact, anyone I recommended it to was immediately hooked. VERY disappointed.
Loved the show. Very disappointed in cancellation decision
At least finish it
I wish I had words to discribe my disappointment in NBC for canceling Allegiance before it was given a chance to devolve a following, in which I am quite sure it would have. I enjoy the Actors and Actress and the characters they played, shame on u NBC. This is not how u get back on top 🙁 Please at least finish showing the final episodes
I really enjoyed watching this show. I was
looking forward to next episodes.
How disappointing.
I can not believe it! It was one show that I actually recorded to keep up with. There are not to many reasons to watch NBC. The only thing left is the black list.
Sorry to hear it go. It was an intriguing show perhaps too real?
AGAIN. another great show that I loved is gone…worse is that it never had a chance to gather an audience. Its a mini series please give us the respect of finishing off the rest of it.
Maybe NBC itself should be cancelled!!!
Typical NBC !!!!
Let’s throw the baby out with bathwater! NBC’s logic for new drama’s redefines the word “logic”.
Tragic.
Yes I did. I found the premise interesting and anything involving Russia is very topical right now. I am sorry to hear that it was cancelled, but I guess watchers would rather watch programs like Honey Boo Boo or watching people making loud sounds out of their orifices etc.. At least you don’t have to THINK..
Can’t believe that NBC cancel the show that quickly given very little time for the show to develop if they canceled the blacklist I’m finished with NBC forever
Like others who posted regrets, I am disappointed to have learned the show was cancelled. Would love to see how the story ends.
Good series, will there be a wrap up or will NBC leave viewers hanging?
How could you cancel this brilliant show?
It happens to be the best show I can ever remember seeing on network television.
Our family is beyond shock.
Please bring it back .
The writing was genius. The acting was spectacular. Cinematography was creative and spot on.
Character development was super. What moron was responsible for the canceling of this bright spot on television. I’m in utter shock and dismay.
Please reread ‘Rebecca” comments below. She expressed my feelings exactly!! So very disappointed NBC!
I love it!!! Sorry to hear it will be gone so soon
