New Murder Mystery Joins “Zoo,” “BrainDead” and “Big Brother” on CBS’s 2016 Summer Schedule
CBS has given a straight-to-series order for 13 episodes of AMERICAN GOTHIC, a new one-hour murder mystery set in Boston, from Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television and CBS Television Studios. The series will be broadcast during summer 2016.
AMERICAN GOTHIC centers on a prominent Boston family that is attempting to redefine itself in the wake of a chilling discovery that links their recently deceased patriarch to a string of murders spanning decades, amid the mounting suspicion that one of them may have been his accomplice.
“With AMERICAN GOTHIC, Corinne Brinkerhoff has created the perfect CBS summer mystery, filled with suspense, intrigue and an explosive ending that will leave you breathless,” said Glenn Geller, President, CBS Entertainment. “It feels like a compelling summer novel that we can deliver to our viewers in 13 one-hour chapters.”
AMERICAN GOTHIC is a co-production of CBS Television Studios and Amblin Television. Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank of Amblin Television, James Frey of Full Fathom Five and Corinne Brinkerhoff (“The Good Wife,” “Jane the Virgin”), who is writing the script, will serve as executive producers. The series will be distributed domestically by CBS Television Distribution and worldwide by CBS Studios International.
AMERICAN GOTHIC will join “BrainDead,” a new one-hour comic-thriller from Robert and Michelle King, the second season of ZOO, based on the #1 bestseller by James Patterson, and the next edition of the summer reality hit BIG BROTHER on CBS’s 2016 summer lineup.
Will you be watching American Gothic next summer? Tell us what you think.
Yes, I love the show!!
Yes,love the show!
This show is more frustrating than entertaining. I don’t think that even the WRITERS know who the killer is. We are purposefully not being given enough information to base an intelligent amateur sleuth prediction as to whom the killer(s) are. We are now five(?) episodes in and they haven’t told us how many victims there were, if there is any connection between the victims, or HOW these victims were killed. All we know is that the victim found in the cement was strangled with a belt. Were the victims old or young, male and female, all of the same ethnicities?… Read more »
American gothic is great. I love it. I like everything about it. The name is what made me want to check it out. When I read what it was I knew I would love it. TV has too many boring sit coms & shows about the same old ****. This is different, interesting, on the edge of your seat stuff. It’s kinda like American Horror Story, different & a subject that I can’t get enough of. And the comment I read about ‘it was good until the sex scenes’, well if a person is that much of a prude go… Read more »
Why is American gothic losing air time because of Big Brother running over into their time slot?
I absotuly LOVE IT I like how they end each episode as in what you make us wonder whats going to happen nex
I love this show. The opposite of some of the other comments where they watched because of the name of the show, I was the opposite. The name did not draw me in, it wasn’t until I saw an advertisement with pieces of the show that got me interested. I am watching thinking the murderer is one person then by the end of that episode I’m convinced it’s a different character. Keeps you busy trying to figure it all out. The whole family is messed up in one way or another, especially the mom. That woman holds the key to… Read more »
I tried watching it. It was alright until they added all kinds of kinky sex. What does that have to do with the show? I think it’s garbage! The plot is kind of crazy!! Nothing like the show with Lucas Black. Shame on you CBS. What happened to family t.v.? I turned it offn the third episode! Want watch it anymore!
I’ve watched a couple of episodes of Silver Bells and that’s too many. The plot is weak and tedious. Why the heck can’t we have good looking male characters. The 2 brothers are a mess. Cam is a narrow shouldered druggie who reminds me of Lurch in the Adams Family and his brother also needs to clean up his appearance. Unshaven, grubby hair styles are not sexy! Of course, the female characters have to be attractive and well groomed and sexy. The least a pathetic show should have is good looking actors.
Boo – does not sound like the Older Series from the 90’s called American Gothic. I really liked that series – they should remake that one.
Once I knew Antony Starr was going to be in this series I for sure will watch it!!
I loved the old American Gothic with Gary Cole and Lucas Black, will this be anything like the old series? If not, it still sounds like a show I would like to watch.
Will this be similar to the ‘American Gothic’ from years back when Lucas Black played the young boy? Also, Jake Webber and Gary Cole was in it.
Bad choice for a show title. Was interested until I read what the show was about.
Hopefully they’ll add something else to the title so it won’t be confused or think its a remake with the American Gothic starring Gary Cole from back in the 90s.
THAT OTHER 1 HAD A LITTLE BOY IN IT.THIS 1 SOUND LIKE A remake
Lucas Black (Switch Blade, and NCIS: New Orleans) was in the one with Gary Cole. This new one does not appear to be a remake; it’s set in Boston and the earlier one was set in South Carolina and dealt with the sheriff.
I just asked about that…Thinking the same.
