Arrested Development returned with a fourth season on Netflix, but is season five in the works?

According to The Wrap, Ron Howard gave an update on Arrested Development during an interview about his new film In the Heart of the Sea. He was visiting Good Morning America at the time.

He said:

“It’s hopeful. What has happened is that the cast has become so freaking in demand and busy. Everyone wants to do it. Fans want it. I would be saddened if we didn’t achieve it.”

He also gave a production update:

“Mitch Hurwitz, the creator of the show, is working with writers now. Netflix is behind it, 20th Century Fox is behind it.”

This does make it sound like Arrested Development will return to Netflix for a fifth season. It is a matter of finding the time for all the parties to work on the new episodes. Fans can hope that they do not have to wait another seven years for season five.
