It appears that plans for season three of BBC’s Atlantis have sunk. The TV show, which airs on BBC America here in the States, has been cancelled after two seasons.
On Atlantis, a young man named Jason (Jack Donnelly) goes in search of his long-missing father and ends up on the shores of ancient Atlantis. He’s befriended by a pair of unlucky locals — former prize fighter Hercules (Mark Addy) and intellectual Pythagoras (Robert Emms) — as well as a revered Oracle (Juliet Stevenson). Others in the cast include Sarah Parish, Aiysha Hart, and Jemima Rooper.
BBC announced the show’s cancellation this way: “The final seven episodes of Atlantis will transmit on BBC One in spring. We would like to thank Urban Myth Films and all the cast and crew but the series will not be re-commissioned. We are very proud of both series but to keep increasing the range of BBC One drama we have to make difficult decisions to bring new shows through.”
Six of the 13 episodes of season two have aired so far in the US. No word on when they’ll be released here.

I am really getting sick and tired of all those series being stopped without a decent ending. It’s a kind of disdain against the viewers. Don’t broadcast / produce a show if you’re not sure there will be budget for the entire damn thing… It only takes 1 or 2 episodes to finish it off decently… Morons…

Why cancel it? It is very good. A different take on ancient legend and well done. Please know that there are Various audiences, and some really appreciate such a show. Do No Cancel, Please!

ABC cancel about 2 – 3 shows every year leaving audiences feeling like they have wasted their time investment. It’s very, very rare for the BBC to cancel a show. ABC also has huge budget through advertising which also directs and controls which shows get canned. The BBC is totally independent from all advertising pressure. BBC America is also restricted/ limited in its dependency on advertising revenue – Therefore BBC has more freedom to make and air a much broader range of good programming than ABC, if not always with huge casts, lavish locations and CGI. really enjoyed the show .. and would have liked to at least have had an ending that tied off all the storylines. so irritated when this happens .. so many good shows just stop mid-way .. no thought given to those watching and buying!!!!!
Im in Australia and have bought season 1 and 2, now to hear there wont be a season 3 is totally ridiculous.. we love this show and like many others want to see how it ends.. NOT HAPPY BBC.. dont start something you CANT FINISH BBC,,
Maybe if we make some kind of online petition to prove to BBC that Atlantis has a significant number of dedicated viewers they’ll have to renew it. Like this comment if you agree

PLEASSSEEEEE RENEW IT!! I LOVE this show. We need to see what happens next after Pasiphae came back from the dead. At least give us a good ending, don’t leave it where it was. I will NEVER watch another BBC show again. Thanks for wasting my time.
