ABC has been searching for a ratings hit to fill the Sundays at 10pm timeslot. Turns out that Betrayal isn’t that show but could it still return for a second season? Has it already been cancelled?
Betrayal revolves around professional photographer Sara (Hannah Ware) and top attorney Jack (Stuart Townsend) who, despite being married to other people, have a torrid affair. Things become even more complicated when Sara’s husband and Jack end up on the opposite sides of a murder trial. The rest of the cast includes Henry Thomas, Chris Johnson, Wendy Moniz, Braeden Lemasters, Elizabeth McLaughlin, and James Cromwell.
The series debuted in September and got off to a slow start with a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.16 million total viewers. The numbers got even worse in week two, dropping more than 24%. In week three, they dropped another 26%.

In short, the ratings were awful but the network didn’t pull the series off the air and a rep even said that ABC was sticking with the show. Why? Likely because they’d already cancelled another new drama, Lucky 7, and fellow freshman Once Upon a Time in Wonderland was also tanking.
Though Betrayal’s ratings have leveled off, that doesn’t mean that ABC is any more satisfied with the numbers and there’s just no way that they’re bring it back for a second season. It’s still on the air because they didn’t have anything to take its place.
The network has released their plans for early 2014 and, to no surprise, Betrayal isn’t part of them. That’s not an outright cancellation but, realistically, there’s as much hope of this show coming back as there being a second season of Pan Am or GCB.
ABC has taken to calling Betrayal a limited series which wouldn’t have stopped them from making a second season had the ratings been stronger. Hopefully for the fans who have stuck with it, the show will end in a satisfying way and won’t not leave a bunch of unresolved storylines.

In response to Bill’s comment, I don’t view Jack as a villain. It was his misfortune to end up as Thatcher’s lawyer because of the family situation. Drew, on the other hand, is nothing more than a self-absorbed creep, only interested in moving forward with his career and won’t let anything stand in the way. Sara and Jack should be together and hopefully ABC will air season 2 so we can find out.
I love this show. I am still going crazy because I don’t know who Sara buys the drink for. Please season 2!!!!!!! Maybe a different day or time slot.
Please bring Betrayal back for season 2. The show was amazing and I looked forward to watching. I love the chemistry between Jack and Sara. There needs be closure for the faithful viewers.

I enjoyed Betrayal! All you have to do is change the day…just like the others do, when a particular show doesn’t get the ratings they think it should get. Please bring it back….Season 2…..Season 2….Season 2!!!!
I LOVED this show and I am so disappointed that its just ended. I even tried to find it on Amazon Prime so I could purchase the season finale.
I loved this show. I got hooked because I watch Revenge right before it. Maybe the time is the reason it didn’t take off. I hope it continues and if not, please don’t leave us hanging.

I would like a season 2 please! This is such a great show and has so much potential to continue the storyline! I already miss Betrayal! It was one of my favorite shows of all times! All the loose ends were tied up except for jack and Sara! We need to find out who Sara is waiting for at the end! The writers promised us we would not be left hanging and they broke it! I love this show. I look forward to it every week. I also tape it so I can watch it again. I would never want to miss an episode. It touches my heart and I feel every emotion. Please bring Betrayal back again. Hannah is so beautiful and her men are so special . Everyone plays their part very well. So Please Please Please bring Betrayal back.
