If you thought a sitcom based on the Geico Cavemen was strange, one that’s based on a Twitter feed seems really crazy. $#*! My Dad Says also certainly wins the prize for having the most awkward title in TV history (CBS maintains that it should be read as Bleep My Dad Says). In any case, the show finally debuted last week. How did it do in the Nielsen ratings? Will it last or be quickly cancelled?
$#*! My Dad Says revolves around a young struggling writer who’s out of money and must move in with his cranky and opinionated father. The new TV show stars William Shatner, Jonathan Sadowski, Will Sasso, Nicole Sullivan, and Stephanie Lemelin.
In its first week on CBS, $#*! My Dad Says did very well, despite some poor reviews. In its Thursday night timeslot, the sitcom attracted a 4.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 12.58 million total viewers. That was enough to put the show in first place in both categories.

On the negative side, though a 4.0 rating is still great, it did lose almost 20% of its lead-in audience in the demographic. The Big Bang Theory scored a 4.9 rating.
The real question will be to see how many viewers return to watch week after week. The show is obviously benefiting from its timeslot, sandwiched between Big Bang and CSI. With such a great timeslot, the network’s expectations are high but for now, $#*! My Dad Says certainly looks safe from cancellation.

i love this show it was very funny. and when william sang no no song it was just funny as heck. i love it
Big Bang is a super-good show, but they are concentrating too much on Sheldon this year. He can’t carry the whole show: he is Johnny One Note. You need a whole band. The other 4 characters are good. Make them excellent, make it a writer’s competition. THEN you’ll get the mojo back.
William Shatner is so funny, and refreshing. He says what he thinks and damn the consequences. The show is very,very funny. I go out of my way to see this and tape the other show on another chanel so I can see this one. Keep it.
Keep it. I laugh out loud at it constantly. Yes, the humor is low brow, but so is Two and a Half Men, and it’s doing just fine!
keep it. captain kirk, bill shatner is the star. every series he has done. lasted at 5 years. sure the show sucks but trekkies will watch the show and stay on till they get bored. 5 years from now. remember BOSTON LEGAL was a smash hit the 1st 2 seasons and then dropped in the ratings because some abc bonehead exec moved it to a different time slot. heck, bill may even win an emmy for this show. long live and prosper, captain kirk.
I like William Shatner, I do, but not in this. I love the Twitter feed this is based on. However, I imagined the dad character to be older and more snappy. I think a lot is lost in translation due to the casting choice of the dad.
I have watched all of Shatner’s series since discovering Trek as a little girl. Still not sure about this one, but might stick it out just because he’s so enjoyable to watch. Makes me miss Boston Legal though.
I loved following Justin Halpern’s twitter feed on all the hilarious s#$% his dad say. But the show does not live up to the hilarity of this guys tweets of his dads expressions. First, I am not a fan of William Shatner. I don’t think he’s a great actor and he still doesn’t manage to do it for me in this role. The rest of the acting is mediocre. Get rid of it! I’m still not happy they moved TBBT to try to boost ratings.
I havent seen it because the previews showed it is one of those sitcoms filmed before a live audience, FOX, NBC and ABC are having new sitcoms without the annoying laughter in the background, why dont CBS? I hated this kind of sitcom my whole life, its almost as if the people that make these shows doesnt think the viewers know what is funny and what isnt. I say either get rid of all those shows or start changing the format

Keep it. Wasn’t perfect but still funny. I’m really glad to see William in a role like this. But on the negative side, they canceled The new adventures of Old christine and Gary unmarried for this? But thats just me.
Bleep my Dad Says isn’t the Bleep. It is Bleep. I hope this gets cancelled really soon. I recorded the pilot, and watch it the next day, I only got have way through it without a laugh.
