Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
I’ve been watching the series on Netflix and am sad to hear there will be no more seasons. YES I would definitely want to see some hallmark movies with these characters. Please continue this story!!! Wonderful series
I would like it if Hallmark would do a Movie finale. I was so disappointed that it was canceled. I can imagine the budget was huge with such a large cast. PLEASE bring it back…thank you.
It’s always difficult when shows are cancelled rather than having a finale. I would love to see Hallmark do a final movie to wrap up the loose ends.
I really liked this show. I was hoping Hallmark would do things differently and not leave us fans hanging like the other channels do. Sadly, I was wrong.
I really liked this show Cedar Cove, every time you get interested in a great series they take it off disappointed
I really like this show!!! Its seems like every time you get interested in good show they take it off air
Very sad that it is over, loved this series, I think a fourth season would have done well.
Please please please bring back Cedar Cove !! My husband and I loved it. There were many parallels between Jack/ Olivia and our professional lives/marriage. It was therapeutic for us … please!
Very disappointed about the cancellation. Loved the show. Why was no reason for it given. A follow up movie to properly end it sounds like a good idea
Follow up movie is a great idea. Tie up the loose ends !
I was so disappointed that the show, “Cedar Cove” ended. It was such a good show! I really enjoyed watching it! I hope and wish that you could bring it back and if that isn’t possible, maybe a movie?
What a bummer. I can see why the show ran out of gas. They had too many relationships going at the same time … and they were not doing a good job resolving their story lines. I feel like I wasted hours of time watching a good show that could have been great. I will not watch any more Hallmark series … and Netflix should wise-up and not disappoint its viewers with shows that go “limp” in the middle of a good outcome. Next time … I will go to the internet to see if a show has been cancelled… Read more »
Just started watching Cedar Cove on Netflix a few weeks ago, and I am hooked! I love that I can watch it with my kids. Good, clean shows are a rare thing these days. I am so disappointed to learn there will be no season 4, and no closure to all the unanswered questions! Please bring it back!
I am so sorry to see a good, clean, sweet series go. It was wonderful. Bring it back!
I hate when good TV series are cancelled for no reason! Annoyed!
I would like to see the return of Cedar Cove. It was a great series. Love the Hallmark Channel.
