Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
I can’t believe this. What a great, uplifting, happy show to have cancelled. I’m not at all enchanted with Chesapeake Shores and have not been able to engage in the storyline or characters. Bring back Cedar Cove!
I just finished watching cedar cove on Netflix and very disappointed that it just leaves me hanging and not knowing what happens!!! It is a great series and it’s one I truly wish Hallmark would bring back!!
Cedar Cove is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than Chesapeake Shores! BRING BACK CEDAR COVE!!!!
At least do a movie that ends the story lines well!!! Stinks to start something and not finish it.
Just watch it on Netflix. Love the show. Please bring it back.
The network is crazy to end this show! I just watched All three seasons on Netflix and absolutely fell in love with all the characters. They need to bring this show back for at least one more season! It’s very unfair to the audience to leave everyone hanging on edge. If Hallmark is going to continue to do this to their loyal fans, then everyone is going to be very skeptical to start watching any other Hallmark shows for fear that they it also be canceled in a very unfair manner as this one is. Very very very disappointed with… Read more »
Please continue the show! Season 3 left us hanging!
Just watched all 3 seasons on Netflicks and can’t understand why there will be no closure on the story arc, there should at lease be a movie tying things together
Please bring Cedar Cove back. The show is great and so was the cast. It’s very disappointing to start a series then cancel it.
I was a faithful viewer and will greatly miss the show! It propelled me to visit Port Orchard and stay at the Cedar Cove Inn with my wife 2 summers ago!
Please bring this great show back we need family show for kids and families to watch I grew up watching family shows
I would love to see Cedar Cove return. The stories were interesting and it was just a wonderful, relaxing show to watch. You couldn’t wait until the next Sunday night to find out what happens next. It was very well written and the people on the show were perfect for the parts they played. I just watched my first episode of Chesapeake Shores and it does not even compare to Cedar Cove.
PLEASE BRING BACK CEDAR COVE SO WE WILL HAVE GOOD, CLEAN ENTERTAINMENT AND HAVE ALL OUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED!!!!
I think Cedar Cove should return for a final season to tie up the character’s storylines. It was a really engaging series!
I would love to see the return of Cedar Cove. It is a good show. I enjoyed it very much.
