Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
Please return the show!
I have been watching “Cedar Cove” on Netflix and have been thoroughly enjoying it. I have not quite made it to the end yet, but can see that many people want to have loose ends tied up. I would like for it to have a proper closure as well, if it can’t be renewed. I love that it is so wholesome compared to most of today’s programming. I would definitely continue to watch as many seasons as I could.
Loved this show. Please bring it back. Not happy it was cancelled.
I loved this series too and miss it! I was shocked it was cancelled – I would love to see it return!
I think they made a huge mistake by cancelling Cedar Cove! There are few shows out there that are wholesome, family shows and Cedar Cove is definitely a wholesome, family show! Watching it was an absolute pleasure! Each episode drew you into the beautiful scenery and it made you feel like you were part of that little town. A show well done. Please bring it back and bring closure to all who are dying to see how it ends for Olivia! Pleaseeeeeeee!
I loved this series. PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!!
I just finished watching the series on Netflix. Please bring it back to close the loose ends left with Grace’s wedding. I absolutely loved this series.
Agreed-Need to tie up loose ends. Loved the show.
We loved this show! Please bring it back.
Yes I agree with everybody else please tie up the loose ends with a movie! We are tired of investing time in series only to have them canceled.
I love both shows.I think we need more show’s like them.I live for every one of them, wanting more. The times are a changing and we can use a little release from everyday stress. My imagination blossoms when I watch.Never mind how my bloodpressure lowers! Go HALLMARK bring it all on.I’ll be there for you.
Cannot tell you how much I miss that show! Please make a Hallmark Movie that ties up all the loose ends. I just can’t believe the ratings kept going down. We always couldn’t wait until the next season began. So disappointed!
Absolutely bring it back!!!! At least finish the story!!
I really loved it. Why??!? Please finish the story!!!
