Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
Can one get final result from book?
The books are quite different from the aeries. Though I enjoyed Hallmark’s version, the books are much better.
Really enjoyed it and wish it would have continued!
Really enjoyed the series. All the characters were great. Very disappointed that the series did not run to it’s conclusion.
Really enjoyed the series. Very disappointed that the serious did not run to it’s conclusion.
My wife and I loved Cedar Cove. We continue to watch Chesapeake Shores and When Calls the Heart upon its return in Feb 2018, but such a shame that Cedar Cove was removed. This was one of the clean alternatives to the trash that is on network tv. We miss it greatly.
Such a bummer. I loved all the characters on the show. Hallmark should do a two hour movie to wrap up loose ends!
What a disappointment!!! A million people watching is a lot. Us folks who did watch were loyal, what more could you ask for. Why does a show HAVE to HAVE a 3 million or so to stay on, beats me, I guess us 1 million don’t matter. I am disappointed in Hallmark and I haven’t watched it since “At Home in Mitford” because of Andie M, but I would of liked Dylan Neal in place of Cameron, although Cameron was good. Cedar Cove could never be brought back just to tie up loose ends, it would have to be a… Read more »
Would love to see Cedar Cove return. We watched all 3 seasons on Netflix and there were many story lines which would be terrific for Season 4!!
This is so upsetting!! I so enjoyed this show it’s was so refreshing to watch something other then regular TV with killing, drama and all the stupid reality bs shows!! It took me away from day-to-day life that so disheartening.. I couldn’t wait to watch the next show!! The scenery was so beautiful and breath taking. I can picture myself living somewhere like that. Very disappointed
I loved Cedar Cove and would love to see a season 4 !!!!Great series!!!All the good clean shoes are always cancelled ,unfortunately !!!!Please bring it back !Robin
Wow!! Can’t believe there won’t be a fourth season for Cedar Cove — so many loose ends and unanswered questions!! Shouldn’t leave people dangling like that; we need closure, please!!
Finally a clean wholesome family show!!! Bring it back, continue the story!!!
Please bring back a fourth season of Cedar Cove or a movie to tie up loose ends. We loved watching this show as a family. We wonder if you’re going to end Chesapeake Shores the same way….that would be disappointing.
Disappointed that Cedar Cove ended the way it did. Just watched it on NETFLIX and was shocked how it ended.
This series was so refreshing compared to other shows on tv. It was uplifting, had great characters and acting. I’m terribly disappointed there is no Season 4. There are so many twists and turns that could happen. I’ve been watching on Netflix and couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. Please reconsider and bring back one more season for us die-hard fans. The scenery was incredible, so thank you for selecting such a beautiful area to shoot this.
