Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
So sad. Such good movies worth watching are cancelled. What a shame.
Please give us a 4th / Final season – to complete the story with all the characters . . . . especially the Judge. Excellent series and deserves to continue. I loved it and want more , more , more! Also all the actors
are awesome. . . . . Bring it back please !!
When any series is stopped without a proper ending it shows that the viewers are not important. Then you wonder why your numbers are down. Do what’s right. It’s not too late. You may even get some viewers back. Cedar Cove fans deserve a proper ending.
Finally found a good family show that I could watch and not have my grandson leave the room while I watch it. What a super disappointing shame that they just left everyone hanging after the third season. They could have done a series finale that was a 2-hour show or something but that’s really bogus that they cancelled.
Absolutely loved Cedar Cove! Particularly wanted Olivia to end up with Paul. It deserves a proper ending. Please reconsider.
Terrible that they left it without wrapping it up. An update would have been great. Maybe a mini series. So aggravating
I think it’s terrible how fans were left hanging after watching 3 seasons. At least do a series finale wrapping up all the loose ends.
At least give people a movie tying up all the loose ends. Very unprofessional to have people follow the series and then just drop off with you just hanging out there. I have never seen a series end like this. Not really end. We don’t know what happened.
Sorry to find out that there is no 4th season. It left us asking alot of questions wanting more. There are people who enjoy a good relationship show and learn alot about family dynamics and friendships. This is needed in our society.
I enjoyed binge watching Cedar Cove. Would love it if Hallmark would resume this series. However some of the characters could have used some depth like Justine. I didn’t like how she treated Seth and took up with Luke.
Loved Cedar Cove. Please bring it back.
I throughly enjoyed this series. I am saddened to hear there will be no season four. To leave fans hanging I think is unprofessional. Not often anymore are there shows without all the “stupid stuff”. Cedar Cove was one I didn’t have to send the kids out of the room. What a shame.
It’s sad when the viewers are left hanging out to dry. Rating mean nothing if you lose your viewers. To many time good shows are cancelled. Cedar Cove was a really interesting show involving many characters. Hallmark just can’t seem to get the message. It’s about entertainment not rating.
Cedar Cove is an excellent show. It’s sad such a good show has been cut for shows that are not as good.
Excellent show… you lose because you cancelled
We l love the series and would like a fourth season
