Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
I loved the show and feel that Hallmark made a big mistake!
What??? Are you kidding me?? Seriously you are leaving us hanging? Shame on you. My husband and I look forward to watching it every week and was looking forward to its return.
Looked forward to season 4. Disappointed that it was canceled. One of the better shows on TV.
So disappointed. Love this show and want Season 4…..at least so we won’t be left hanging!!!!! :/
I really enjoyed watching Cedar Cove. It is a shame that the show was cancelled.
Please give your viewers some closure with a Cedar Cove movie. It was a wonderful, wholesome show. I was looking for previews of season 4 thinking it had to be close to time for it to restart. How can you leave us hanging like that?!
I am very disappointed that Cedar Cove was cancelled. It was the best show on the Hallmark Channel, which led to watching other shows. What a lack of regard for the fans!!! I hope there will be a reconsideration about this decision.
I cannot believe you are cancelling one of the best shows on hallmark channel. I am so disaspointed it makes me want to stop watching the hallmark channel all together.
I am very disappointed to hear that when I went to check when it was to air season 4 it had been cancelled. That was really the only show I ever used my DVR for. It was just a feel good little town with great real life people in it. I want to know what happened to everyone you leave us hanging that’s not right. We need more shows like that. We. Need Cedar Cove…. Let me know I vote bring it back!!!
I’m really ticked this series has been cancelled. I can’t watch the hallmark channel because I can’t afford cable but I do watch it on vudu. I bet other are like me an my watching the series is not counted. Loved this show!
I’m so disappointed in Hallmark cancelling this series! I love Cedar Cove and watched it every week. I kept wondering why there’s been no advertising for this upcoming season when all the other shows have been these last few weeks. Put it in your Sunday night line up with all the other series. The over 50 and retired ladies keep your channel alive and look forward to your great programs! Bring it back!!!
I am Very Disappointed that my Favourite show was cancelled! It’s a Great Story that I LOVED! We need more season’s! There’s not a lot on TV that’s clean and Entertaining!
Sure did hate to hear that cedar cove will not return. Why leave everyone hanging? Can we trust Hallmark not to cancel other good programs (like Good Witch and the mystery shows? get interested in all the good programs if they will be canceled too early without advance notice and leaving viewers with cliff hangers – at least finish the stories!!!!!!!!!!!!
If this is typical Hallmark behavior, maybe I should cancel it as I have to pay extra for it.
Very upset show is not returning. Looked forward to watching it every week, I think this is a big mistake and makes me angry.
I was looking forward to watching Cedar Cove especially with the cliff hanger that Hallmark gave us with Paul confronting Olivia with his feelings. I never missed an episode and I have to say I am truly upset about the series not continuing. Hallmark please don’t disappoint your fans.
