Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
What a disappointment. I thought you were on break and coming back for
Season 4. I love the characters and story line. Hallmark is my favorite television channel. You just finished Season 2 of “When calls the heart”, which is also a
favorite of mine. There are so few seasonal programs to watch for Christians, so
I look forward to what Hallmark produces. Please reconsider and bring back “Cedar Grove”.
Shame shame I can’t believe hallmark left so many unanswered questions and lives just hanging . I am so sad !!!
In a time where every channel is filled with drugs, violence, distruction, and just plain old negative examples on television we get a good family television show and it is pulled from the lineup. Instead of pulling shows like this from television you should be flooding the market with them. This is a very dissappointing move that has not made our household happy.
I so agree with everything you’ve said. Enjoyed watching Cedar Cove every week, looked forward to it, and looking forward to its return this summer. So disappointed it won’t be returning!
What are you thinking!?! Please please please do not cancel Cedar Cove. I was so looking forward to see what happened to all the various relationships. They were true to life characters that one could identify with. It was so very refreshing to have a show on that did not have a lot of smut! Please reconsider bringing it back for faithful viewers to, at the very least, watch a season finale.
I am very very sad to see Cedar Cove end and strongly recommend bringing it back with better advertising of the show. I kept looking and looking for it and finally just found out it was canceled by searching for season 4 cedar cove! Bring it back!
Just found out…. I’m shocked and disappointed that Cedar Cove is not coming back….not even for a last final season!!!!…I was so looking forward to what was gonna happen… Just such a nice series to watch … Really disappointed that Hallmark did not pick up for a last season to at least give an end to the story line that so many of us enjoyed following
So disappointed in Hallmark for cancelling Cedar Cove and leaving loyal viewers hanging. I think you could have at least offered a wrap-up/series finale. It’s lovely the actors will be working on other projects for you, but that does little for the fans who care so much about the characters. I get that it’s all about the ratings….but a series finale or movie would have gone a long way toward honoring loyal fans.
I loved Cedar Cove and I am sad to see it end. It was a nice show for older people but my daughters liked it too
Shame on you hallmark for cancelling such an awesome serie , we need those kind of show instead of violence
No you should not have canceled this wonderful, decent, one-of-a-kind TV show. My friends and I got together every week to watch this show and we told everyone to watch for it to return. We have no final answers after being loyal fans for three seasons. You could have at least done a grand finale!!! We are so disappointed. Shame on you !
Very Upset that Hallmark cancelled Cedar Cove! I loved this show and Never missed an episode!! Hallmark made a big mistake!!
VERY UPSET that Hallmark cancelled Cedar Cove!! I NEVER missed an episode. Hallmark made a very BAD move in cancelling this show!!
I am so disappointed that Cedar Cove is not returning this summer. I love the entire cast and feel that if it must end a finale would have been nice to show us what happens to each character.
I absolutely loved this show. Never missed it. Very disappointed with the decision to cancel it. Don’t care for the mystery shows.
I absolutely love this show, the actors, story line the quaint town and hate it was cancelled! What I hate more is when the networks feel that the fans don’t deserve an ending. Hallmark makes a lot of good decisions but this isn’t one of them!
