Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
Great!! First Downton Abbey, now THIS!!!! New meaning to the phrase, “cliff hanger”! I loved everything about Cedar Cove…huge loss
At least Downton Abbey had an ending. I totally agree with you. Huge loss! So very few decent shows on TV any more.
I was really looking forward to season 4 of Cedar Cove. Please bring it back!
Please put season 4 back on the air. It was a great show it would be nice to have a finale so we know how it all ended. Loved this show and will miss it
Please do a season 4 of Cedar Cove or at least a final show to finish the dilemma of various characters left in the air at end of season 3. Thank you.
Very good show. Too many unanswered questions. The least Hallmark could do was a final episode or wrap up movie to answer questions ans tie up loose ends.
It should had been renewed for a fourth season for sure
I hope the Hallmark channel will renew Cedar Cove. Maybe a Cedar Cove movie.
They need to renew it. Better then some of the other show you all are trying to put on there that dont make sense
I was saddened to hear that Cedar Cove will not be returning. I was so looking forward to seeing the new episodes. A lot of questions were left unanswered. Hopefully Hallmark will consider bringing it back. The cast did a great job!
I am disappointed, I loved Cedar Cove on the Hallmark Channel. Never missed an episode
My husband and I truly enjoyed Cedar Cove and very disappointed it is no longer going to be on. We looked forward to seeing it every Saturday night. It is so refreshing to watch something wholesome. Very disappointing
Very disappointed in cancellation of Cedar Cove, Hallmark should rethink this one especially by not having any type of ending.
I would rather see “When Calls The Heart ” cancelled than “Cedar Cove”. I really enjoyed the show and looked forward to seeing it. Big mistake.
My daughter and I enjoyed Cedar Cove immensely. We looked forward to watching it every weekend. I can’t begin to tell you how disappointed we are that it will not be returning. Hallmark is our favorite channel to watch. We love the wholesome and warmth of the movies and series like Cedar Cove. Please bring Cedar Cove back! Pretty please!
So sad! I love this little town and all the characters. Boo hiss!
