Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
Really disappointed it’s not coming back. Guess I’m pretty late in finding out, and now I’m bummed.
If they were going to cancel it I wish they would have given some closure to the final season. That’s always frustrating for the viewers.
I loved Cedar Cove. Sad to see it’s not coming back.
Sad that it won’t return. Was a lot better than some shows that are on.
So sorry to learn of the cancellation! Maybe the could do some occasional “movies” to keep the story going.
How disappointing…..a great cast of wonderful actors/actresses….wish there was at least a movie to resolve the relationships….a happy ending would be nice…like Debbie’s books.
I think and would like to see at least a final show to wind up the story lines. After three seasons that is the least they could do
I wish that there was more respect for the fans who did watch the show. It’s like they’re saying: we don’t really care about you people. You’re not important enough to actually wrap up the show for you properly. I liked the show and watched it every week.
I have been waiting patiently for Cedar Cove to return. I just recently found out it was cancelled. I am so sorry to hear that. It was my favorite show. I love all the characters ( even that snake in the grass, Warren). Hearing this news upset me. Please bring it back. Hallmark is my favorite channel. It is family oriented. Love all the movies.
Disappointing! Cedar Cover is what brought me to the hallmark channel, never before did I watch shows on hallmark.
I’m so disappointed. Cedar Cove is one of my all time favorite shows. I don’t want it to ever end. It was so good. Please reconsider….
I am so sorry that Cedar Cove will not be returning. There are not enough family shows on T.V. as it is now. Please reconsider your decision and let all the characters move on with their lives and leave happily ever after.
It is unfair for Hallmark to leave Cedar Cove fans up in the air like this. At least wrap up the loose ends.
My wife and I really enjoyed Cedar Cove. It was clean & enjoyable as are all Hallmark programs. Please bring it back for Season 4.
I had been looking forward to the next season of”Cedar Cove”. I just googled C.C and am disappointed to see that the program has been cancelled.
