TNT has picked up Dick Wolf’s unscripted TV show, Cold Justice, for a third year. Season two is currently airing and season three will kick off sometime next year.
Here are the details:
TNT Renews Real-Life Crime Series Cold Justice for Third Season
Show Finds Strong Fan Base on Friday Nights, with Big Audience Growth
TNT is ready to crack more unsolved cases as it orders a third season of its fascinating real-life crime series Cold Justice. The series, which recently reached the middle of its second season, has become a Friday night hit for TNT, delivering strong demo growth compared to season one. TNT’s renewal includes 10 episodes slated for the series’ third season. Season 2 of Cold Justice is currently airing Fridays at 9 p.m. (ET/PT). Season three is slated for early 2015 and will feature both new states and types of cases never seen on the show before.
Cold Justice follows former prosecutor Kelly Siegler and former crime-scene investigator Yolanda McClary as they travel to small towns around the country in order to look into murder cases that have lingered for years without answers or closure. Since the premiere of Cold Justice last September, Siegler and McClary have assisted local law enforcement in securing a total of 15 arrests, eight criminal indictments, four confessions, two guilty pleas and a 22-year prison sentence.
Cold Justice has averaged 2.3 million viewers in Live + 7 delivery so far this summer, a remarkable +24% increase over the show’s winter episodes. In key demos, Cold Justice is averaging 912,000 adults 25-54 (+12% vs. winter) and 676,000 adults 18-49. The show has found a solid fan base in its Friday night timeslot, growing its Live + Same Day demo deliveries by +13% among adults 18-49 and +4% among adults 25-54, compared to season one.
Cold Justice is produced for TNT by Wolf Reality and Magical Elves, with Emmy® winners Dick Wolf (Law & Order, Chicago Fire), Dan Cutforth & Jane Lipsitz (Top Chef, Time of Death) and Tom Thayer (Hitchcock, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee), serving as executive producers.
What do you think? Have you been watching this show? Glad it’s coming back?
I love this show. I hope it keeps going. Way to go Kelly!
It would be nice if they put resources for crime victims in the end reel.
Love the show. Keep up the good work. A wonderful show.
I really like “Cold Justice.” I’m glad it’s on during the summer. Something good to watch on Fridays.
I really enjoy learning about methodology, shadow of a doubt, preponderance of the evidence, process of elimination, and building timelines. I wanted to be a detective and now I must enjoy living vicariously through the characters in this show.
I would like to see a show produced some day that utilizes the DNA and more advanced forensic techniques that have freed the wrongfully convicted. Perhaps even one that the convicted can appeal and apply to have their cases re-examined.
Cold Justice is a great show. I love the follow up to the previous show crimes. I am in my 70’s and have gotten my daughter, her husband and my granddaughter and her husband hooked on this show. Our age range is 60+, 49-60, 29-40. We have dinner together on Friday nights and then have to watch the show. The questions that come up are who do think did it and do you think that Kelly and her team can get an indictment. Keep the episodes coming.
I’m sorry you didn’t like my first comment. I will not write again. I have watched this show a number of times. The police departments have done great jobs with evidence. I think Cold Justice helps Prosecutors look again only because it has been exposed to the media.
Cold Justice doesn’t really solve crimes. It does, however, help police departments pursue cold cases with the help of the media. How sad that they need the funds from the media to do this. From what I have seen, the police departments are wonderful!
My husband and I never miss an episode of your show. It has given us newfound hope that a crime can be solved (or at least fully investigated). I am very impressed with Kelly and Yolanda and their experience in their fields. It is my hope that they continue with the show indefinitely because they are doing a great service for the families of victims. My son was found dead under a bridge after having been missing from Dec. 22 to Dec. 29, 1998. It was an unexplained death, but there were quite a few things that led us to… Read more »
sorry to hear about your son–I can relate
Please cancel this show. It violates fair pretrial publicity for a defendant. Wasnt Kelly Siegler’s husband the Assistant District Attorney that was sending racial/porn jokes on the internet at work?
This is one of the few scripted shows my wife will watch. We both are quite fond of the format. My only request is give us more episodes that conclude with the conviction and sentencing of the felons.
Love the show and like the investigaters and the methodical way they work a case.
I really like the show and never miss an episode. I would like to see you investigate the brutal murder of two teenagers in San Angelo Texas in the late 80s at Lake Nasworthy. This crime has never been solved & has even included the Texas Rangers. These kids deserve justice. Please consider this cold case. Thank you
I have been watching sence it frist came on and love this show ..I wish you would have left the tmie at 9 pm though as I don’t have a DVR and my husband likes another show at 8pm ,,so I stay up and watch the replay at 11 pm..but please do NOT take it off…..
I am a huge fan of Cold Justice and I am so glad to have it on TNT. I never miss a show. If I’m going to be away from the tv on Friday night, I tape the show. Keep up the good programming, TNT.
There was a brutal double murder in the small town of Cypress, Jackson County Fla on Dec 9th 1991 of a 25 year old mother and her 5 year old daughter. This case has yet to be solved. The case was reopened in 2009 but have not heard anything since. The following article deals with the reopening of the case. Something that I think you would be able to solve if interested . http://www.jcfloridan.com/news/article_c333fa27-d996-50a3-8ef3-aaab1d8ff47e.html
