Six seasons and a movie? Not on NBC. The peacock network has cancelled Community after five seasons.
Community follows a suspended lawyer (Joel McHale) and other adult students at the Greendale Community College in Colorado. The rest of the cast includes Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Donald Glover, Ken Jeong, Jim Rash, Jonathan Banks, and John Oliver.
Though the series has some very devoted fans, Community has never been a rating success for the network. NBC kept renewing it anyway but the past two seasons have had just 13 episodes apiece.
Compared to last season, Community’s season five ratings dropped 13% in the 18-49 demographic and grew about 4% in total viewers. Still, a 1.1 rating and 3.0 million viewers are very low numbers for a network, no matter how you cut it. Apparently this was just too low for NBC and they’ve now cut the series.
While Community has been cancelled by NBC, this does seem like a prime candidate for a company like Netflix or Amazon to revive for their subscribers. Time will tell.
What do you think? Are you upset that NBC cancelled Community? Do you think another channel or service should pick it up? Would you follow this show? Would you pay to watch another season?
Community should be picked up by someone.
I always loved the show and will always be a fan.
BRING BACK GROWING UP FISHER!!!!
Bring back Chevy and the show will thrive again!
Nbc is the worst. They always cancel the good shows like My Name is Earl and Community. Community definitely deserves to get picked up for another season. I already have netflix, I would pay for Hulu, Amazon, or buy it on iTunes if I had to #sixseasonsandamovie
Always loved NBC, now i realise how much they suck! Thanks for dropping my favourite show !
Hulu owns the streaming rights to all five seasons of Community, but you think Netflix or Amazon may pick up the show for another season?
I don’t even watch this show and I’m surprised it got cancelled.
