Last season saw the ratings for the Continuum TV show drop nearly 30% when compared to the second season’s Syfy numbers. It’s been decided that the shortened fourth season will be the series’ last. Will it go out with high or low ratings? Will execs wish there was fifth season or regret that it didn’t end sooner? Stay tuned.
Continuum revolves around a female police officer (Rachel Nichols) from the future who gets caught up in a conflict that spans between 2012 and 2077. The cast also includes Victor Webster, Erik Knudsen, Roger Cross, Stephen Lobo, Lexa Doig, Omari Newton, Luvia Petersen, Brian Markinson, Jennifer Spence, and Richard Harmon.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
Final season averages: 0.13 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 410,000 total viewers.

For comparisons: The third season of Continuum averaged a 0.27 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 840,000 viewers.
What do you think? Do you like the Continuum TV series? Do you think it should end or should have been renewed for a fifth season instead?
I loved this show. It challenges the mind and makes me think of our present day and where it is heading. Corporate greed if defiantly a real problem. And on it’s current path a future like the one shown in this show seems probabable. They need more shows like this to wake people up from their lack of awareness as the world is being shaped around us by a select few elites. A future bright for them. Not so much for everyone else.
Great show really disappointed Season 4 was short and full backstory not able to be completed. Would love to see ongoing seasons still so many plots and sub plots there. Come on just do it rare to get such a good story, cast, crew and location together!! I’m out of your review range at 58, have seen a lot of shows over the years and I loved it!
Too bad a good show w/ lots of sub plots & very realistic in what country is going thru Now
Really really bummed this show was cancelled , i thought it was brilliant and well acted ,especially nichols , she had that lovely face when nice and could turn into ***** face in a second …..just sucks
I enjoyed Continuum and wish it had been renewed for another season. I am in the demographic age bracket over 49. Since we started the whole SciFi craze we should count in the demographics too.
Continuum was a Canadian production and was shown on the SyFy channel in the U.S. Since it was a Canadian production by a Canadian Network SyFy channel had no control over Continuum’s cancelation.
If they would count the over 49 age demographic for these SciFi shows, the shows might be renewed instead of canceled. After all, the “Baby Boomer” generation started the SciFi craze.
This is another TV series that I liked and was cancelled. The main reason I didn’t watch it last year is because I could not find what station and time it was on.
I don’t understand how the ratings, as quoted, are so low. I know a lot of people that watched Continuum. But we are older than 49 and the survey only counts the 18-49 age group (I think). Don’t us older people count? I am sure my age bracket contains a lot of people who really liked this program and would give quite a boost to the ratings. We are the age group that grew up watching Doctor Who from the 1960s (so we know something about Time Travel Shows and “time paradox”); plus we watched Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica (the… Read more »
I lobbied for Continuum to be continued into series 4. I know it is now finished but in my opinion, as an older person who has been watching TV since the late 1950s, it is the best Sci-Fi series I have ever seen. Simon Barry’s plots involving the different time-lines are very clever, very logical (you have to think about it all and I would go back over past episodes to see how it all fitted together) as well as being very interesting and exciting show. The acting was good and the settings in the beautiful city of Vancouver, BC,… Read more »
Love the show however I am one of many who catches shows on Netflix because of hating network TV, the commercials, it is expensive if shows can just be watched many other ways. Years ago my household was chosen to have one of the set ups that collects viewer ratings. During that process soon discovered it is a horrible way to gather ratings. We always had to make sure the TV was off if a show was not being watched. That is hard when a lot of people leave the TV on in the background or fall asleep to it.… Read more »
how is it that they figure out the rating anyway? Nielson? do they even survey those who watch it or just people who watch the lame fake reality shows. seems that there needs to be a better way of surveying the viewer base.
As far as I know it’s still all Nielson. If you are not on it, then your viewing habits do not count in the ratings! I would think with all the cable and satellite boxes they have a better idea of what real habits are, but they don’t talk about that, if they do??
Exactly!!! Need to change with the times! The way they figure their data is ridiculous anyway. I had it for a couple years, it is more annoying than anything and at the time the system was horrible (even if you did have it, only way the data would count is if we would remember to do a few steps after the show was over. If a light was blinking that would tell them that the TV is being left on….we received a lot of phone calls letting us know our tv was on blah blah, ….was a pain and doubt… Read more »
Was in on!?! Here in Ca. it was on at 11PM!!! I didn’t know until the 3rd wk. and had to watch on demand. Why so late? It’s a good show.
Who is your provider? DirecTV doesn’t have it on demand!
Continuum and shows like it must be continued for the greater good of all. Like Firefly and so many others, it takes a while for the potential fan to realize something good is happening. after all most us have up on the network programming years ago. Its lack of vision, us using the medium to effectively assist humanity in the evolution of consciousness. SciFi is the best chance we have to survive and thrive as a species into the future. I wish the network execs and share holders could see beyond this weeks profits. to the prophets of tomorrow.
The best Sci-Fi show of the sorry lot currently airing. But…I do thank the suits who allowed us to have…I hope…a proper ending.
I lo this show but they don’t give it the credit that it deserves!!! The story is awesome and the actors are great but it would be nice to see this on-demand more so that you could go back and revisit some episodes or to direct friends to enlighten them to check it out from the beginning.
Not to mention seeing episode 1. See my previous post.
I missed the first show because it didn’t record. I know it has already aired in Canada but why can’t it be listed as new when airing the first time in the USA. I had the DirecTV DVR set to record the series, but the default is “All first run episodes”. I changed it to “All episodes”, but episode 1 is gone and no repeats are scheduled, nor is it on the ‘On Demand’ for SyFy. This was after episode 2 recorded, so I guess it was either listed as ‘new’ or I accidentally happened to be looking at that… Read more »
I’d like to see a longer 4th season and a 5th season 🙂
