It’s the end of the line for the Dallas TV show — for the second time. TNT has announced that they’ve cancelled the new Dallas TV show after three seasons.
A continuation of the successful CBS series from the 1970s, 80s and 90s, Dallas follows the machinations of two generations of the dysfunctional and powerful Ewing clan. The cast includes Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Juan Pablo Di Pace.
Year-to-year, season three of Dallas was down by 26% in viewership and down by 38% in the 18-49 demographic. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series and that certainly wasn’t a good sign for its chances of a fourth season.
In a statement, TNT said, “We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show’s creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin. We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series.”
Cidre and the writers have been working on scripts and ideas for a fourth season of Dallas so hopefully she’ll share what would have happened at some point.
What do you think? Will you miss the Ewings? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
This was a great show. Why did it have to go away. Forget about ratings, it was in a time slot competing again other great shows when it should have been in a time slot with slow rating shows and then most people would have tuned in to Dallas.
Dallas was a great show. And TNT messed with traditional ways of putting it on the air. Gaps between groups of episodes, fewer episodes. The production of Dallas was a class act. A credit to past showings. Sadly JR is gone. But the new cast was excellent. People still watched this show by the millions. The garbage that’s on now isn’t watched by anyone. Bring back Dallas. Truly a class act.
i am very upset this was a wonderful show and was so looking forward to watching it. It was wonderful and very sad at the moment
I cannot believe you would cancel a program like this and yet bring more trashy reality shows on that no one in the right mind would watch. We always found that a great show, even thought the generations changed, we still love the story… so sorry for you poor production and the people who do your programing… what a shame!
I’m very disappointed. I really enjoyed the show. Praying that TNT will rethink their decision.
Really wish they would bring back dallas! Only show I would get excited an look forward to coming on.
This only.go to show that good well written tv shows are no longer welcome on tv .
To TNT, Want to make some money? Want a mega-popular show on your network? Then just undo what you did when you cancelled Dallas. You just don’t realize what a mistake that was. More people watched that show than you know.
It is a good TV show, and wish see more coming.
We could not be more disappointed! Every week of Dallas was a wonderful. The show is full of suspense, always asking the question, “Who did it?” Well written, good storyline… so very sad!!!
Dallas was the best show on TV. And TNT cancelled it. That was really dumb. We want this show back. C’mon you networks…here’s your chance for mega ratings. All you have to do is announce that you’re renewing Dallas. You’ll make millions. The fans would be very happy.
Just what part of this doesn’t make sense? Really…What part? OK TNT cancelling is the only thing that doesn’t make any sense. Money 101 folks. Show some guts here, networks.
Me and my wife and daughter enjoyed watching Dallas together and wish it wasn’t cancelled ! I watched the original back in the 70s and 80s also .
PLEASE bring it back, one of the most underrated T.V. shows, hav watched it since the very beginning and still as exciting!!!!
I am totally disappointed!!!! I don’t watch too many news shows about tv so I had not heard that Dallas had been cancelled. I read through several of the comments and absolutely agree that TNT must not have realized how many people watched and loved it. I absolutely HATE all the reality shows and the weird shows that are on. I hope that they will get this wonderful cast to continue and put it on a different channel. TNT’s loss! The original actors are fabulous and I loved being taken back to my childhood when I would watch on Friday… Read more »
