Did you miss Day Break on ABC last night? If so, you’re certainly not alone. We’ve been innundated with emails and traffic from people looking for details on what’s happened to the Taye Diggs series.
For those who don’t know, Day Break has been pulled from primetime by ABC after just six episodes due to low ratings. The on-going storyline is hardly resolved with seven unaired episodes left in the season. ABC has said they will post episodes (one per week) on their website but many people don’t have a powerful enough computer, can’t access the Internet long enough to watch, don’t have a fast Internet connection or, for many other reasons, simply can’t view the episodes. In short, millions of people who could have seen future episodes on free network television, will never see this excellent series — and we think the decision-makers should know.
So, we’re inviting you to sign a petition that asks the network and the production companies (Gross Entertainment and Touchstone Television) to release the series so that more people can see it — to return the series to network TV or at the least, to release it on DVD. With enough interest, there could even be a second season or a movie.
Let your friends, neighbors and co-workers know — anyone who misses Day Break — where they can find this petition. Naturally, the more names are collected, the better.
To sign the petition, fill out the “comments” box below. You only need to leave your name, city and state (or country). You may leave comments if you wish but please try to keep them civil. We’ll be monitoring the petition to ensure that it stays clean of spam or inappropriate comments. Let’s save Day Break!
Please note, due to the overwhelming response, 5,000 comments have been archived (for bandwidth issues).
To ABC, Gross Entertainment & Touchstone Television:
cc: Taye Diggs
We, the undersigned have enjoyed much of your programming, particularly the outstanding Day Break series. We have enjoyed the Taye Diggs series each week and are dismayed that it has been pulled from the primetime schedule.
We believe that the ratings have not accurately shown the show’s popularity for success. After just six episodes, we believe that Day Break was not given enough time to fully establish a potentially huge audience. Please remember that many very popular shows like MASH, 24 and Cheers were not immediate hits.
We understand that ABC is posting the remaining episodes online but, for a variety of reasons, millions of people are not able to see these episodes — resulting in lost viewership for you and disappointment and frustration for them.
We respectfully request that you return Day Break to network television and to consider continuing production of further episodes or even a film. At the very least, we ask that you make the existing episodes available to a wider audience via a DVD release.
Thank you in advance for your attention and consideration.
The Undersigned fans of Day Break
Please, Please!!!! Release Daybreak on dvd!!! I’m In Italy and I can’t watch the online episodes!!!
We need a Season 2!! This show is too good to end with only one Season. I’ll be buying the Season DVD box set the first day.
I knew Jared would be back. After his last line “I shouldn’t have bitten you.”…. I knew he would be back.
Excellent ending. Just enough loose ends for a second season, yet wrapped up well.
It’s a shame that we couldn’t find out what’s going to happen to Hopper next? Great show along with Heroes and 24. Another station should do something with the show.
Unbelievable! ABC finally had a great show. It was well made with great acting and ABC chooses to throw it away. Are ABC’s ratings so high that they can afford to throw out the good ones. Who makes these decisions??? Seinfeld was supposed to be pulled because of low ratings. Go figure? ABC needs to give this show another chance!!!!
This show is amazing and has a new kind of twist to it.. they should keep it going!
Please make another season of Day Break! I loved this first one!!
Why must you take away this wonderful show! This show had it all: originality, intrigue, and suspense. You guys made a huge mistake. At least sell the show’s rights to another network because “Day Break” never should have had this fate.
This was an incredible show. The writing, acting and storyline were fantastic. I was very unhappy when you cancelled it. Although I am happy to be able to view the episodes online, I would like to see it released on DVD so I could share it with others.
I would also suggest, after seeing how many people enjoyed the show, looking into future Taye Diggs or Daybreak-like shows. Oh, and try not cancelling the best shows on your network. You’re going to run out of viewers pretty soon.
Day Break is a really good show. I’m one of the lucky ones who has a really fast internet connection, and got to see the whole season. This was a fresh new series that didn’t rely on “old school” programming to draw a huge fan base. I would very much enjoy seeing this series continue, or at least being pick up by another network. If this doesn’t happen however, I can live with the minor cliff hangers in the last episode, except one. Why was the day looping? Overall, the ending was very well done, and besides not knowing what… Read more »
WHAT ARE YOU NUTS???? THIS SHOW WAS/IS AWESOME. BRING IT BACK!
daybreak rocks! i just watched the last episode…awesome
Someone made a big mistake canceling Daybreak. Believe it or not we all are not watching, Lost, Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives. We are tired of all the Sex, lies and….. you think we want. Some of us like suspense, adventure, action, mystery and intrigue. Our one show we watch during the week is 24 on FOX. That is the only show again this year that we don’t want to miss now that Day Break is gone. Our family across the country all tunes into 24. We email comments to each other about the show. It is also the only… Read more »
Some shows just work better on DVD. This is one of them.
I would love to see Daybreak come back for more seasons! After just watching the “series finale” many questions are left unanswered. Who was the man at the end? What has happened to Chad? I LOVE this show, and would really like to see more episodes!!!!!!
I watched the FINALE last night, and yet CANNOT STOP thinking about THIS SHOW!! Doors were definitely left open for a second season…BRAVO to the writers! I’ve gone back and rewatched some of the other episodes on-line, and would STILL buy the DVD. It is fun to look back and see minute details, that I had forgotten. All the characters on this show are part of the puzzle. I absolutely love this cast. Please sell this series to someone else ABC. After your treatment of this series, to its cast and fans, you really don’t DERSERVE to reap any of… Read more »
