The Good Wife may have ended but CBS is not done with Alan Cumming. The actor is executive producing the Dr. Death TV show drama pilot which is in development at the Tiffany Network. Cumming will star as former CIA operative, Dylan Reinhart, whom Deadline reports, “…has since built a ‘normal’ life as a gifted professor and writer.” Now, with a serial killer “on the loose,” the NYPD needs his expertise.
Dr. Death is based on the James Patterson and Howard Roughan book of the same name. Little, Brown & Co. have slated publication for June, 2017. Patterson will executive produce with Royal Pains‘ showrunner Michael Rauch and Alex Kurtzman. Bill Robinson and Leopoldo Gout of James Patterson Entertainment are also executive producing as is Secret Hideout’s Heather Kadin. The show is in development at CBS Television Studios.
Here is more on the Dr. Death novel, from Amazon:
A serial killer is loose on the streets of Manhattan. His victims appear to be total strangers. The only clue that unites the crimes is the playing card left behind at each scene that hints at the next target. The killer, known in the tabloids as The Dealer, is baiting cops into a deadly and scandalous guessing game that has the city increasingly on edge.
Following her instincts, the gorgeous, tenacious cop in charge of the case turns to an unlikely ally–Dylan Reinhart, a handsome and brilliant professor with a keen insight into the criminal mind whose book turned up in connection with the murders. As the tabloid frenzy over The Dealer reaches a fever pitch, Dylan and Elizabeth must connect the clues to discover what the victims have in common before The Dealer runs through his entire deck.
What do you think? Do you like the sound of the Dr. Death TV series pilot? If CBS orders it, will you watch?
I will watch as I know that anything with Alan Cumming will be quality viewing!
