The power of Christ compels you! Deadline reports FOX has ordered a pilot for a modern adaptation of The Exorcist.
The series is based on William Blatty’s original 1971 novel, which served as inspiration for the classic 1973 film.
A TV adaptation of The Exorcist has long been in the works. A script was written by Jeremy Slater in 2013 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the film. However, the project was mired in negotiations before finally landing with FOX.
Deadline describes the new series as “a propulsive, serialized psychological thriller following two very different men tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession and confronting the face of true evil.”
The project will be executive produced by Slater, alongside James Robinson, David Robinson, and Barbara Wall. It will join FOX’s other successful horror series, Scream Queens, which was just renewed for a second season.
What do you think? Are you a fan of The Exorcist book/film? Would you watch a TV adaptation?
No way would I watch this. This was a horrible movie then and will be horrendous now as is all the devil, horror shows/movies. Why would anyone watch this stuff and let the evil into their home through their television set.
