The Family stars Joan Allen stars as Claire Warren, Alison Pill as Willa Warren, Rupert Graves as John Warren, and Zach Gilford as Danny Warren. Margot Bingham is Detective Nina Meyer. Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

I thought first Jon Snow on GoT is alive and now Adam on The Family! I’m beyond disappointed. We’re left hanging. Hopefully Netflix or another network will pick it up. Maybe the 9pm Sunday slot wasn’t a good choice. It’s up against GoT and The Walking Dead.
ABC, you’re making a BIG mistake, people will start talking about The Family & more people will start watching! Bring it back!
I truly enjoyed The Family show this season. It is the only television show I watch on a weekly basis. I lost track of Scandal and Quantico so this show was my only form of enjoyment for the past few months. I am sorely disappointed that the network has cancelled it.
Are you kidding? “The Family” is one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long time! I was so excited about season 2. Totally disappointed!
This was one of the best shows I’ve seen on TV in a very long time. Every week left you on the edge and wanting to see more. A little more of the storyline was exposed each week; enough to keep you engrossed and excited to see what was to happen the next week. The characters/actors were flawless. This definitely is not a show that needs to be canceled. This show needs to be reconsidered or picked up by another network. This was TV at its best. We need more of this!
Very disappointed , there is a lot of shows that should be cancelled on ABC and The Family is not one of them . I think the network should reconsider the age demographic considering most 18/30 don’t own a T.V. , can’t afford cable or live on line , seriously I look forward to Sunday night just to watch the family and I am in the age demographic of 40+ very disappointed with ABC
They cancel the family but bring back mistresses???!! Ridiculous!!
Sooooo unfair!!! I am not going to watch anymore tv shows on abc because know there’s that high chance you’re just going to be disappointed in the end and left hanging. This was a great show very intriguing my whole family watched it we would literally be counting the days to each sunday, abc does not care about their viewers very unfair and upsetting

Dear ABC network,
I am reading online that the network cancelled The Family miniseries. I hope and pray this is incorrect.
The Family is currently the most jaw dropping show on tv, it’s twists and turns are comparable to a good book you simply cannot put down! I don’t understand how ABC can even consider canceling this series. Since the very first episode it left me wanting more. I’ve told many friends & family about this riviting twisted thriller, could you please consider a second season?
This was a great show, was so excited every week it’s very frustrating they cancelled it. All these other tv shows are pretty much all the same plots about sex and murder, and finally when a good somewhat decent show comes on they cancel it! Very very mad especially we have so many unanswered questions about the finale. I wish they would bring it back.

ABC, please don’t cancel ‘The Family’!!! I was devastated when I saw this headline. Such a unique and captivating show…had me on the edge of my seat each episode with all the crazy twists and turns. I honestly couldn’t wait for Sunday nights to come, so I could watch. Please reconsider or at least give it a few more episodes so the fans can have closure!
