The Family stars Joan Allen stars as Claire Warren, Alison Pill as Willa Warren, Rupert Graves as John Warren, and Zach Gilford as Danny Warren. Margot Bingham is Detective Nina Meyer. Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

I hate that you guys cancelled this show because I work nights and next following day I come home eating to see what’s next and what happen with Ben maybe you didn’t check that people might not watch the show at the moment but there’s lots of people that records the show to watch when they can . I feel that it needs to continue is an amazing cast and for me it takes me to another place trying to find out how this kids suffered so many years and under people’s nose ! One of the better shows on TV…. Makes no sense to cxl. Everyone I know watched it and we discuss it each Monday. It needs a chance to gain momentum.
This is a great show. You never imagined what was coming next. As usual ABC canceled a good show.
What the heck every time you put on a good show you cancel it!!! “The Family” is awesome! Keep it on and get rid of some of there Crappy reality shows. I don’t know who decides which shows to keep on but they need to get their head on straight!

The Family is the most exhilarating show on tv today. Cancelling the show is very upsetting. Hopefully it will be picked up by another station.
BIG BIG MSTAKE !!!!!. bring it back please. Other than 60 Minutes,there is nothing worth watching on Sunday night for those of us who can’t afford cable.
My husband and I have watched since the pilot and have really enjoyed it. I was extremely disappointed to learn of the cancellation!! Please reconsider!!!!
This was the absolute best show I have watched. It has so much suspense and every single episode leaves u anxious for the next !! Big mistake on cancelling it !!
I am extremely upset that The Family was cancelled. Several friends and family of mine have been hooked on it. It would have been nice to have seen Claire and the family realize Adam was still alive. This will prevent me from watching new shows on ABC because They are always canceling good shows!!! Please bring it back, at least so there is better closure.

This is such a great tv show. Lots of mystery and suspense. I never know what’s going to happen next. The actors are great too. Why are you cancelling this show? Give it a chance. Or put it on another station. New cliffhanger on 5/15 episode. Who killed the journalist laying in the snow?? Who is this young man who called Ben and told him he was taking his life back?? Please keep “The Family” on tv.
That wasn’t the journalist in the snow it was the pedo and Adam is alive. Ben left him there and he lied about his death..such a great lead into a new season and it’s cancelled. Hope another station picks it up.
I am very upset they cancelled the show absolutely loved it and was on edge every week waiting for the next one to air . Season 2 would have been great with Adam coming back no doubt .
