Futurama is going mobile. Variety reports the Matt Groening series is being made into a new mobile game called Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow.
Created by Groening, the animated sitcom followed the adventures of Philip J. Fry, a New York City pizza delivery boy who is frozen for 1,000 years and becomes an interplanetary delivery boy. The voice cast included Billy West, Katey Sagal, John DiMaggio, and Phil LaMarr. The show ran for seven seasons, first on FOX and then Comedy Central, before ending in 2013.
The mobile game will feature original material from Groening, executive producer David X. Cohen, and several of the series’ original creative team. A release date for Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow has not yet been announced.
From Groening:
I love this game because it feels just like ‘Futurama.’ Except now you get to jab the characters in the face.”
In other news, Futurama cast member Billy West will be a guest on today’s episode of Stu’s Show, a TV webcast hosted by Stu Shostak. The episode debuts today, February 22nd, at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET. In addition to Futurama, West has voiced characters on Ren & Stimpy and Doug.
