After two seasons on the air, CBS has pulled the plug on their Wednesday night sitcom, Gary Unmarried. The TV show won’t be back in the fall for season three.
Gary Unmarried revolves around a newly-divorced house-painter and dad, Gary Brooks (Jay Mohr), who’s readjusting to the single life. Others in the cast include Paula Marshall, Ryan Malgarini, Kathryn Newton, Keegan-Michael Key, and Brooke D’Orsay.
The sitcom debuted in September of 2008 to a mediocre 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.84 million viewers. The first season’s 20 episodes ended up averaging a 2.2 in the demo and 7.06 million viewers.
Those numbers put Gary Unmarried on the bubble for renewal. It ultimately escaped cancellation, likely because CBS co-produces the sitcom and decided to keep trying to make the Wednesday night comedy block work.
This season, the show’s ratings didn’t improve, averaging a 2.2 in the demo and 6.8 million viewers.
That wasn’t good enough to earn a renewal this time around and CBS has cancelled the series after 37 episodes. The network has also canned The New Adventures of Old Christine and Accidentally on Purpose.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Gary Unmarried’s been cancelled, that there won’t be a third season?

I agree what is wrong with CBS, Gary unmarried was hilarious!!! As a newly divorced father of three with a neurotic controlling ex-wife this show was absolutely perfect. I really hope another network picks up this show. Bring Gary unmarried back!!!!
Is CBS crazy???? That was a great show!!!! Bring it back!!!!!
Gary Unmarried was one of my favorite shows. I am very sad to hear it was canceled. Please do something to bring it back!!!
I am SO sad to hear that Gary Unmarried & New Adventures of Old Christine were cancelled. I was soooo looking forward to the new season:( Please re-think this decision. Get rid of survivor… hasn’t this show been on long enough!! OR &*^% my dad says … BOOOO
This show was the only reason I even started watching television again. Oh well, back to the computer.
I cant even beleive that you cancelled the two good shows that were on, Gary Unmarried and Accidentally on Purpose. I agree taht some other network should pick them both up. They are great shows.
Gary was one of the best shows on TV along with Big Bang, 2- 1/2 Men and Rules of Engagement. I also liked Christine and Accidentally on Purpose! Too many good family- type sitcoms are being lost and repetatively boring reality shows stay the course. Somebody wake up! CBS; this move sucks!!
its a damn shame.that was a good show. And just wanted to say u can download the torrents full seasons.
Seriously CBS….why did you get rid of Gary Unmarried??? I rarely watch anything on your network anymore now that you’ve gotten rid of Gary Unmarried, Guiding Light, As the World Turns and what next?? The trash you keep is not worth wasting my time!!!
I don’t watch much sitcom t.v. anymore, but i had too do a search on the net because I couldn’t find the one sitcom I actually enjoyed and found out Gary Unmarried was cancelled, I agree with the above comments, Gary Unmarried should be picked up by another network.
omg that such BS this was one of the best shows ever!
Good show. Sorry to find out it was canceled.
This show was really good and was far better than two and a half men. Maybe CBS should have put this after two and a half men instead on that lousy big bang theory. It would have done great there!
What is wrong with CBS. Seriously, bring back Gary Unmarried. Or I won’t ever watch anything again on your network. Get with it!!!!
this was a great show bad move on cbs’s part
