It was a little bit of a surprise that Ghost Whisperer was cancelled by CBS earlier this week. While the show’s ratings have dropped significantly this season, many reported that the TV show was on track for season six. Well, CBS may have cancelled it but the TV show could still continue on ABC.
Ghost Whisperer follows Melinda Gordon (Jennifer Love Hewitt), a young woman who has the ability to see, talk to, and help the dead. Series regulars have included David Conrad, Camryn Manheim, Jay Mohr, Aisha Tyler, Christoph Sanders, Jamie Kennedy, and Kenneth Mitchell.
With the current ratings, Ghost Whisperer wouldn’t ordinarily be of interest to ABC. However, the network co-owns the show with CBS and actually handles the production in-house. They actually developed the series before CBS picked it up back in 2005. If the price is right, ABC would stand to make more money from season six episodes once they hit syndication.

According to Deadline, negotiations for Ghost Whisperer possibly moving to ABC started on Tuesday afternoon and are still in motion. Word is that they are going well though there are a number of points to work out.
It’s positive that the showrunner for next season is already in place and producers have signed on. That means that the show is ready to go back into production. The Ghost Whisperer writing staff have all been asked not to take other jobs until a final decision is made.
For now, people are being cautiously optimistic. Deals like this have fallen apart at the last minute before but things are reportedly looking good. We’ll obviously keep you posted.

I love love love Ghost Whisperer!!!!! I really hope ABC picks it up, I will be really really upset if it doesnt. I could watch it forever, this show is absolutely my favorite show of all time.

I hope it will come on Friday nights. You know we all work and it would be a shame for ghost whisperer to come on afternoons instead of Friday’s. Please give us something to look forward too.
I think CBS is making a serious mistake! Ghost Whisperer (my favorite) & Numbers to name a couple. I really do hope that ABC will pick up GW, they would certainly benefit from it!
Yes, ABC, please pick it up – CBS made a huge mistake with several of its cancellations last week. I like GW in the Friday night time slot and will watch it anywhere it’s on because my week is over and I really look forward to it as part of my “unwind” time. Why didn’t CBS consider that it was the storyline that was causing viewership to fall off?
If ABC pick this show up then I solemnly sware as a huge Ghost Whisperer fan to follow it!
I love Ghost Whisperer. I’d watch 20 seasons if they made them. I’ll watch it on whatever network they put it on! I don’t care where – just keep in on the air!!

I have watched Ghost Whisperer since the very first show and I am so unhappy that CBS canceled it. I am praying that ABC takes it over and airs it for the sixth season. It is my most favorite show and I just can’t imagine it not being on anymore. When they killed off Jim and he jumped into that other guys body, that was the only time that I didn’t like the show. Well sadly because of my college classes I have missed most of this season as I would get home around 11:30PM on Friday nights but I have been watching the show since it came out in 05. I have little doubts that the show will be gone from the airwaves and heavily feel it will continue for another season. I really enjoy Ghost Whisperer both the characters and how in every show good always prevails over evil. I have watched every show and have several favorites and am really upset over the thought of it being canceled. I would definitely follow Ghost Whisperer to ABC and any night of the week would be OK.
