Officer Walter Clark’s story has been cut short. CBS has cancelled Golden Boy after one season and 13 episodes.
Airing on Tuesday nights, Golden Boy tells the tale of a young and ambitious New York cop (Theo James) who rises quickly through the department’s ranks to become the youngest Police Commissioner in NYC history. The cast also includes Chi McBride, Kevin Alejandro, Bonnie Somerville, Holt McCallany, and Stella Maeve.
The network was hoping that Golden Boy would perform better than Vegas — and for awhile, it looked like it might. Unfortunately, Golden Boy’s ratings ended up being pretty bad, particularly in the 18-49 demographic.
The episodes that have aired so far have averaged a 1.4 in the demo with 8.3 million total viewers. It’s one of the lowest-rated shows on the network.
The last episode, titled “Next Question,” will air next Tuesday night.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Golden Boy has been cancelled? What would you have liked to see in season two?
Golden Boy is an excellent show. I like it as much, probably even more, than NCIS. Great cast, action, and linking stories. I think it is one of the best crime dramas on TV, what the H— is CBS thinking?
Really sorry to see Golden Boy leave. Really enjoyed the show. How about another time slot or night
As usual….CBS (and all the other TV Networks) kill themselves telling writers and producers that they want – no – “NEED” original TV shows that are not just copies from a cookie cutter machine and then when they get it in the form of “Goldenboy”, they fuggin CANCEL IT after ONLY 13 EPISODES !!!! WTF …. More proof that these so-called SENIOR NETWORK EXECUTIVES are being fed too much COCAINE when they throw darts at a wall in their selection process. How can they actually expect us to allow any future show into our homes if they cancel QUALITY, while… Read more »
Loved it!, my whole family and many friends. Never missed it. Can not believe it want be renewed, please bring it back. Vegas, you know exactly what’s going to happen, same old, same old.
This is one of few cop hows that has a differnt tist. They never really promoted the show or gave it a chance. To cancel this so is such a waste!
This was such a great show. I can’t believe CBS would cancel. Some other network, Please pick it up and give this show what it deserves!
ARE YOU KIDDING, GOLDEN BOY IS A WONDERFUL SERIES AND I HAVE PERSONALLY LOVED IT ALONG WITH MY COWORKERS, WE TALK ABOUT THE SHOW EVERY WEDNESDAY AND HOW WE LOVE WALTER AND AND DON OWEN, AND THINK YOU ARE MAKING A HUGE MISTAKE.
CBS never promoted this show so how the heck would anyone know about it. I hope that another network will pick it up and it kicks butt!! At the very least, they could tie up all the loose endings. Not sure why the networks think it is so important to cater to the 18-49 year olds. What, everyone else is dog poo??
I am really upset that Golden Boy is going away. There are so many questions that still need to be answered. CBS is making a BIG MISTAKE.
Please don’t cancel this show
What makes me sooo mad is CBS did not give the a chance to end it. It aired with a cliff hanger.. It was awful.. We watched every single episode.. Loved it.. more than Vegas… All the characters worked good together.. CBS should have given it a chance. This was not fair. I will not watch any more NEW shows on CBS.
CBS enough with the Reality shows already. golden Boy was a wonderful show that both me and my hubby watched. Bring it back, please and do away with the profanity. It’s not needed. The storyline e are strong. The characters are interesting. The plot continue to thicken. Bring it back please. It’s good television.
Compared to all the brainless reality shows we are being subjected to, this show is a breath of fresh air with storeylines that hold the interest of viewers who appreciate an opportunity to engage in an intelligent hour of tv viewing. Why would cbs deprive us of one of the better shows on the level of NCIS & Blue Bloods & hang the audience out to dry with so many questions about the future of these intense characters.
This is a ridiculous move by cbs.
This show was the next NYPD Blue, terrific storylines, incredible characters already being developed, and stellar acting all the way around. It’s with decisions like this one that my wife and I will begin to pull away from all network TV rather than invest our time and energy into something this good only to see the greedy networks decide to allow no show time to develop an audience.
Sayonara Golden Boy and very soon, sayonara, CBS!!
CBS Please reconsider goldenboy is a great show
