NBC is not grim about Grimm. While it hasn’t yet decided whether to cancel the Grimm TV series after season five or renew it for a season six, NBC’s Entertainment Chair, Robert Greenblatt, sounds more positive than negative about the fate of this fantasy police procedural drama.
Greenblatt spoke to The Oregonian‘s Kristi Turnquist during the TCA winter press tour. As quoted below, it sounds like the Peacock Network is more fond than not of this Friday night fright-fest. Brimming with Wesen-ality, Grimm stars: David Giuntoli, Russel Hornsby, Silas Weir Mitchell, Bree Turner, Silas Weir, Mitchell, Sasha Roiz, Claire Coffee, and yes, Bitsie Tulloch.
From OregonLive.com (emphasis ours):
Will “Grimm” be renewed?: The ratings have been down so far in Season 5. When I asked NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt about the show’s future at the recent Television Critics Association Winter 2016 Press Tour, Greenblatt said, “We like ‘Grimm.’ It hasn’t been renewed yet, but it’s a show we love, and it’s actually a big international success for our company.” Greenblatt added, “I think ‘Grimm’ isn’t going anywhere. Which is a hedging sort of statement. We haven’t decided. But we like ‘Grimm.'”
Airing on Fridays, which is traditionally a low viewership night, especially for the advertiser-prized younger segment of viewers, “Grimm” picks up viewers via delayed viewing, Greenblatt said.
“I think the numbers have gone down a little bit because of that,” he said. “But there are some really great ideas for future shows. ‘Grimm”s OK.”
But as Greenblatt said, that’s not a confirmation of renewal, so we’ll have to wait and see.
The season 5B premiere of Grimm airs tomorrow, Friday, January 29, 2016, at 9:00pm ET/PT. Check out this article teasing Grimm‘s return, chock full of new season five photos.
Are you a fan of the Grimm TV show? Do you plan to tune in for the season 5B premiere on NBC? Do you think Grimm should be cancelled after the fifth season or renewed for a sixth season? Make your voice heard, below.
RENEW GRIMM for season 6, please… This is one of the only shows I actually look forward to watching. There is nothing like it on tv and most everything else is such garbage. I’m so exhausted with the tiresome reality shows and the trashy individuals on them I could expire. Grimm is exciting and keeps you wanting more. Please renew Grimm for all of us who love this show and its cast.
Please,, Please don’t cancel this show. It’s about the only thing on TV on Friday and I love it. My daughter and her two children love it.
Don’t cancel Grimm! It’s one of the best shows. The chemistry between the actors is wonderful. I always watch it and my sister buys it on Amazon to watch the next day.
Cancell, cancell ! same ideas, bad writers. Zzzzzz the season 5 is the worst ever.
Why would you want a show cancelled? If you don’t like it change the channel and choose another show.
Please don’t cancel Grimm. I love this show, especially since I live in Portland, Or, it has more meaning. I have read the Brother’s Grimm Fairy Tales when I was a kid and I am over 70 years old. Please renew and keep the story going with the characters.
I love grimm , always looking forward to watching it on Fridays nites. I want to see Grimm get renewed, it’s a good show.
I’m a 59 yr old woman who sits home every night NBC has 2 shows that I love that us GRIMM AND LUCIFER. I would very pleased if they’re both renewed for another year. I watch Grimm every Friday night. I love these kind of shows. So please keep these coming.
I am the proverbial high-minded academic that barely watches TV, let alone series, but Grimm is one of the reasons I am revising my position on TV, and by far the best show I’ve come across. It’s thoughtful, imaginative and supremely artful, bringing together viewers across generations and occupations, education levels and interests. It is a rare skill to articulate complex ideas to such a wide range of viewers and spellbind them while doing so. I watch it religiously and, among other things, it is the topic I share with my friend’s 10 year old daughter. This show is a… Read more »
I have very little regard for execs from any of the big three networks given their past performance. (Ask Ioan Griffudd (sic) what he thinks of the accountability of major network exec’s promises.). But, I hope MR. Greenbladt isn’t just taking the easy road with the OREGONISTS’ reporter. Grim, Bitten(was cancelled a few days ago the rotten no good ********) , The Magicians and the various Marvel Comics shows are my reason for getting up in the mornings (sad isn’t it. And not quite true but, not far from it. ). If we start a letter writing campaign to Greenbladt… Read more »
PLEASE, PLEASE keep Grimm going!!! I am not able to watch the show on Friday nights but it’s one of my best weekend treats!!! Those viewers like me NEED TO COUNT! In today’s technology you show be able to get the viewer counts by cable network and your own iPhone app! I hope you already do. Original consepts, great twists & turns, especially EVE!!! I am not a TV watcher. I have 3 children under the age of 10 I bake cookies and babysit. Now there are 2 shows I watch when I do watch TV and the is bitten and Grimm. Grimm is a great show! Please keep it on!
This show has brought a lot of people together thru social media. It’s the one show we watch on NBC. We look forward to Friday nights and Grimm. Renew for another season.
I’ve really been enjoying Grimm this season. With the international storyline more in focus and Nick and Adeline’s relationship developing, I hope NBC renews for season six, but if not, at least give the writers and cast a half season or a half dozen episodes to conclude their storylines.
