It looks like Bill Lawrence’s low-rated sitcom may be ending soon. TVLine reports that TBS has cancelled Ground Floor after two seasons on the air. A rep for the cable channel however maintains that the series hasn’t been officially cancelled.
Ground Floor follows the romantic relationship of a young hotshot banker (Skylar Astin) and a beautiful maintenance worker (Briga Heelan). The rest of the sitcom’s cast includes Rory Scovel, Rene Gube, James Earl, Emily Heller, and John C. McGinley.
Airing on Tuesday nights, Ground Floor is currently averaging a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.49 million viewers. That’s about what the first season drew so the sitcom’s performance has been pretty consistent.
On the negative side, the third season of Sullivan & Son did about the same in the ratings and it was cancelled after three seasons.
While it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise if the show was cancelled, TBS apparently isn’t ready to officially pull the plug — or renew Ground Floor for a third season. Hopefully for fans of the show, the February 10th season finale won’t end up being the series finale as well.
What do you think? Do you like the Ground Floor sitcom? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a third season?
This makes no sense. I don’t even consider it low rate. Last week’s episode pulled a .7 in 18-49, which for a cable comedy is a good rating. It also topped USA’s sirens in the same time slot, which pulled a .4. It’s overall viewers and 18-49 ratings are better than it’s network star Conan. Why would they cancel it?
Well said, David. I completely agree with you. This is just like when TNT canceled Perception because they wanted an “edgier” image.
Bull ****. really funny show but then they got shows like law n order where there is 16 diff ones and they make it 10 seasons
IMPORTANT: The fans have started fighting to save Ground Floor. The show can still continue if it finds a home at Amazon Studios, Netflix, Hulu or Yahoo!Screen. If you want to help out, you don’t need to make huge gestures, you can simply tweet with the hasthag #SaveGroundFloor on twitter, and send messages to the networks I mentioned. HELP US GET A THIRD SEASON IF YOU ALSO THINK THE SHOW’S GONE TOO SOON
Don’t do this to me. I love this show! Leave it on!
Ground Floor is the bomb! Leave it on!
Ground Floor is HANDS DOWN the BEST comedy on television right now. The writers give all the characters hilarious lines and you just want to love the cast – they gel so well together! The ups and downs of Brody’s work and personal relationship life with Jenny are first-rate, and the awkward and crazy scenes Brody’s foil Harvard gets himself into are nothing short of laughing your pants off funny. Derrick playing Harvard’s trusted best friend and the sane one of the duo is also classic. Plus, who DOESN’T like John McGinley’s tough as nails – but still has a… Read more »
That is ridiculous. Can’t believe it. They actually had a funny show here.
They should keep this show on the air. It’s funny and the cast all have great charisma. While it’s not ground-breaking television, it’s certainly a lot better than other shows that do they same type of comedy. Maybe they need to promote it more to give it a chance. While the show is about the work environment, maybe they can branch out a bit and create more stories out of the workplace.
GREAT Show… they did not do a good job getting the word out.
One of the funniest shows on television today..why would they cancel it???
GREAT AND FUNNY SHOW. DON’T CANCEL PLEASE.
I really hope they don’t cancel it as it is one of my weekly don’t miss shows. Awesome characters that are really funny and always fresh storylines!!! I really love this show!!!!!!!
Sometimes a feel good show is needed in one’s life to take the mind of off life’s angst. Here you have a show that will not be the next Seinfeld or Friends, but does lift the spirit after a long day when one can remove their said nose from the grindstone. A show that warms the heart, even just a little, and bring laughter to a quiet evening…seems to become a dinsaur even before it really has a chance to bloom. I miss the days when a funny little comdey could blossom despite not having over the top murders, explosions,… Read more »
