To no surprise, ABC has cancelled freshman sitcom Hank. The Kelsey Grammer show failed to catch on with critics or many viewers.
Hank revolves around a Wall Street CEO who’s kicked out of his own company and must relocate with his family to his small hometown in Virginia. Aside for Grammer, the series stars Melinda McGraw, David Koechner, Jordan Hinson, and Nathan Gamble.
The sitcom got off to a slow start on September 30th with a 2.1 rating in the demo and 8.34 million total viewers. The numbers got worse from there and last week Hank hit a series low of a 1.3 rating and 5.09 million viewers.
It’s been assumed that the show would be cancelled for awhile now, especially since ABC handed out full season orders to all of its other freshman sitcoms; The Middle, Modern Family, and Cougartown.
ABC confirmed the cancellation of Hank today and said that production is being halted after 10 episodes. The sitcom’s end comes on the heels of the cancellation of another struggling Wednesday night show, Eastwick.
Five episodes of Hank have been aired so far and it’s unclear whether or not the network will get around to showing the remaining five at some point in the future.
For now, Hank’s timeslot will be filled with repeats and specials.
What do you think? Was this show as bad as so many people think? Was there anything that could’ve been done to fix it?

Kelsey Grammer SUCKs and so does the TV show, The Middle!
I enjoyed the hank show, need to get rid of the middle
I watched every episode that had aired. I wanted this show to succeed because I admire Kelsey Grammer. There was only one problem. This show simply did not make me laugh, which is a must for a sitcom. Nothing can ever top “Frasier,” but even his previous sitcom, “Back To You” was so much more enjoyable than “Hank.”
Please find a sophisticated comedy to capitalize on the fantastic talent of Kelsey Grammer.
The thing about Kelsey is that his characters take a few shows to grow on you. I did not like Frasier at first but it grew and grew on me. The first time I saw Hank I thought it was a bomb but once again Kelsey started coming out of his box and the show as well as the character started to develop. Of course our little comments here is not going to make a bit of difference with the network as they seldom look past the trees to see the forest- ron
Fingers crossed The Middle is next. It’s the dirt poor man’s Malcolm in the Middle. They don’t even try to disguise it – same weird young kid, same look, they even take part of the title! Lame! Bring back Malcolm!
why dont the networks air the new episodes remaining of series (ie Hank) even if they are cancelled, why put on reruns (ie Modern Family) in their place if they have new episodes to burn off?
I enjoyed Hank. Cougar town, modern family, and the middle. do any of these shows and their story lines seem familiar. Try Malcom in the middle, and some others from the 80″s. At least Hank was different, and it was a story line of what has happened to some people with in the past year. Sure at times the story line was a little slow but I am sure if the producers actually got their heads together they could make this a hit. I still watch every rerun of Frasier. Kelsey Grammer can still act. Don’t give up Kelsey. Some… Read more »

This wasn’t a family show by any stretch. With multiple swear words flying about you’d have to be a “Number 10 Dad” to let your kids watch Hank.
This show sucked bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It wasnt funny at all! i had a better time sitting in the dark then watching this!
I just hope they dont bring back srcubs and put that in the timeslot, abcs ideas for scrubs without most of the cast is dumb, they are gonan kill it!
NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I Rely Enjoyed This Show!!!! Awww, know Wednesday Night Only Has The Middle And Modern Family To Bring Joy To Me… Because I HATE COUGAR TOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Going to disagree. I really liked the show. Was refreshing to see a family show for once that anyone could watch. Writing wasn’t great but I found myself watching it much more than any of the other new shows on TV. I knew this was coming, though, as a typical family show like this doesn’t really sell anymore, sadly. This was the type of show people used to watch 20 years ago, but now it doesn’t fit. Ashame for Kelsey, since this is his second try at a post-Frasier show. Both were good, but not good enough.
I agree with post 1. This show had a great chance to take off but the teen daughter’s bad acting and the horrible writing left it in the ditch.
Try again, Kelsey! We know you’ve got talent, it just can’t outshine a bad script.
Bring back “Frasier”!
There was no way to help this show. The comedy was absolutely dull and lifeless. When it was over, I thought “Thank the Lord!”
