Tonight, CBS wraps up the first season of their new Hunted TV show. Viewers seem to have some very strong opinions about this series. Some would like to see it cancelled while others are ready for a second season.
The Hunted TV show on CBS follows nine teams of two in a real-life manhunt as they attempt to evade capture in today’s digital world. Highly skilled investigators in the field and in a Command Center combine state-of-the-art tracking methods with traditional tactics to pursue and catch them. A grand prize of $250,000 is awarded to each team of two that successfully evades being caught for up to 28 days.
The series debuted on a Sunday evening in January, following a highly-rated NFL game. To no surprise, the first episode of Hunted scored big ratings, averaging a 4.06 in the 18-49 demographic with 11.85 million.
A few days later, in its usual Wednesday night timeslot, the ratings were not nearly as good. Episode two averaged a 1.33 in the demo with 5.48 million viewers. The numbers have dropped lower and lower as the weeks have progressed.
Though this series certainly isn’t a hit, the ratings could be worse. I suspect Hunted doesn’t cost much to produce so I’m inclined to think that CBS will renew it for a second season. However, I certainly wouldn’t be shocked if the network cancelled it instead.
But, what do you think? Would you watch a second season of the Hunted TV show or, is one season enough?
I have submitted an application to be a contestant on the show with my friend Tim. It’s a great training exercise for the hunters and a great opportunity for the contestants. The application process is a little tricky and it is hard to tell if it actually went through to the producers, so hopefully they got it and Michigan is one of the states that will be featured. Bring it on….
Come to the D.C. area me and my brother want to a chance at 250k
We loved this show! Can’t wait till season 2
This show is cringe inducing in its laughable pursuit of attempting to pass this off as real. Though the methods used in fugitive tracking exist, the pathetic execution on what could have been an incredible idea was the only crime committed here. “Oh look, here’s a Facebook pic of our fugitive standing next to a tree in 2005. They MUST be camping! Team, let’s mobilize the drones!” – 3 minutes later they just so happen to be in the same forest. Um, riiiiiight. I watched this show because some of the methods were interesting, but they “hacked” CCTV feeds in… Read more »
I get the feeling that you don’t care for the show because it shows that people like you do not have what it takes to disappear. That there are people who have techniques to find and capture people like you.
There are people like myself who, if I don’t want to be found, cannot be found. KEEP THE SERIES GOING!
Definitely ready for season two. I was instantly hooked on this show and learn about some of the tools available to law enforcement.
My sister and I called one another each commercial break. It was a riot to share funny thoughts and outrages on silly mistakes made at times (tacos, anyone?) I would be disappointed if it goes off TV. I rarely find shows I enjoy anymore.
No way…
I think this is a great show that demonstrates. The capacity of lawinforcement in the I T age.I will continue to watch it.
I would love to see it continued
